There should be rules on the selling of puppies, such as health testings for genetic/hereditary health issues need to be done on at minimum both parents and copies of any certifications and paperwork for those tests should be given to the buyer. No one is going to know if either parent of a puppy carries the genes for any genetic health issue that can be passed on until it was health tested for them before they were used for breeding ! The more dogs in a puppy's or dog's pedigree that were tested and cleared of inheritable health issues the better and the lesser chance of the puppy/dog inheriting them. The breeders or people who sell puppies at these places are generally not reputable type of breeders who are well educated in the breeding of dogs and they do not breed responsibly and carefully away from genetic health issues and bad/difficult temperaments which can also be passed on. They may not have good breeding practices. Reputable type of breeders who stand behind their dogs, generally give at least a 2 year health guarantee against genetic health issues for their puppies and it is stated in a contract for the buyer to go over and sign. Some breeders' health guarantee is longer than 2 yrs. The reason for at least 2 years is that some genetic issues won't show up until the dog is fully mature and that can take up to 2 years for some breeds and lines in a breed. Common health testings for most breeds prior to breeding them include x rays with certifications for hip and elbow dysplasia and genetic eye defects. The eye checks need to be done by an animal ophthalmologist, not a regular veterinarian. People who choose to get a puppy/dog from a breeder need to know what to look for in a good reputable type of breeder. I just indicated in this review the most important thing to look for. Buying or getting a puppy should not be on impulse. It's similar to buying a car. You need to research the breed you want and learn from other owners or people who have had plenty of experience with dogs of that breed to be sure that is the breed you want to keep and can manage. Once that is done you need to make sure you get the puppy from the right...
Read moreUsually we absolutely love the trade show. That opinion still stands BUT I had my first "issue" yesterday. Yesterday was Easter as well as my child's 5th birthday. She adores the trade show so we went for her birthday. They were doing a really cool Easter egg scavenger hunt. Venders had eggs, secret surprise, as well as camo eggs from the show themselves with "bigger" prizes. Between my 3 and 5 year old they found 4 of these eggs in total. We took them to the "office" like the instructions said. In these 4 eggs it said they won...$2, $2, $6, and the last was either $10 or $20. So that $20 if we go with 10. My child is extremely smart and knew this. Since it was her birthday she got really excited she won this and was telling what she wanted to get from the store for her Birthday. We got to the front and waited patiently for the attendant to show. She read the eggs out loud to my child. Gave her acalades and then word by word said "okay I'll tell you how much you won after this..." And proceeded to give my 5 year old girl a 'lesson' on 2 dollar bills and gave her 3 or 4 of the 2 dollar bills with the statement "now if you hold on to these for the next 50 60 years they might be worth a lot of money". I'd like to state that it was extremely messed up. And to the lady that thought she was being sly you really weren't. I didn't make a fuss due to it being Easter and my child's birthday. The child knew though and I would like you to understand that. She worked so hard for those prizes. She herself walked up and down those aisles to find the special eggs and at the end of getting her "prize" she looked at me in confusion and hurt and said "mama...she didn't give me what I won..did she? Does this mean I can't go pick out a toy now with my own money?" Definite disappointment how y'all handled your egg hunt and young children. Thankfully she doesn't dwell on the bummers of life. We got her a toy, even though she didn't get to 'pay' for it herself and she was back to being happy on her special day. Like I stated prior we adore the trade show and look forward to it each month for YEARSSSS. But we have never had interactions with the inner...
Read moreI'm a former vendor who used to shop at the trade days even before I became a vendor three years ago. We recently moved to the much cleaner and new Third Monday trade days in Sherman at the old expo hall.
That show is Saturdays and Sundays on the same weekend so I unfortunately had to choose between which show to do.
However I still have lots of vendor friends who go there and I took my daughter shopping today to visit with friends and shop around.
I was assaulted by one of the vendors in front of the new manager David Duke by the front office. Some psycho names Salas who sells swords grabbed my arm as I was passing by. When I told him he can't put his hands on people and said I was calling the cops because I was assaulted, David Duke asked if a was a former vendor here and I replied yes. He then proceeded to kick me off the property and said I am not allowed back and couldn't wait for the police on the property. I asked why and his answer was "Because I said so".
A nice vendor walked with me off the property and apparently is under the impression David Duke owns the property. He does not. He is simply the manager and I don't know why he is telling people he owns it.
Apparently if you are ever a vendor and leave for another show you can't go back to the trade days to shop and spend your money with your friends. And if a vendor assaults you while you shop you will be the one...
