My family and friends been coming to The Brass Tap in McKinney since the first week they open and almost weekly for their Bingo Trivia night, but after what happened tonight ( July 29), I can confidently say this isnât a place worth being a regular.
Customer service here is wildly inconsistent, and a big part of that is the constant turnover in staff. Every time we get to know a server or bartender, theyâre gone within a few weeks. Weâve even run into a few of them working elsewhere working around town and theyâve all said the same thing, poor management is the reason they left. That instability clearly bleeds into the overall experience.
The final straw was tonightâs trivia event, there was a manager weâve never seen before who spent the entire night hanging out at a specific table like it was his personal VIP section. He talked to a one or two tables that night but his main focus was that table throughout the game, he kept going back and forth to the bingo host making sure the sound was good and he repeated the question, and it was clear he was trying to get special treatment for the people at that table.
Then when the game ended (as in, the standard 35 questions for the final round blackout page and there was no winner), he conveniently went back to the host and said he wanted someone to win the potâŠâŠ..surprise, they added two more questions. What are the odds that one of the people from the table he was glued to all night magically won the $350 pot?
The food is usually consistent outside of forgetting to bring things because it seems training and turnover is a major part, and theyâve got a decent beer selection, but moments like this really show you where the priorities are. If youâre looking for a casual one-time stop, this place might be fine. But if youâre hoping for a consistent, well-managed bar where you can become a regular and feel valued⊠this is not it.
Between the questionable management decisions, the lack of staff consistency, and the unfair atmosphere during events, we wonât be...
Read moreSince it just opened my wife, daughter and myself decided to give it a try. The place is nice when you walk in and it is self seating. That was the only good part of the visit. The table that we sat at was wet with wet menus. When the young man who was out waiter came over we asked for waters while we were looking at the menu. We received a flask of warm water with three small glasses. It took a bit to figure out how to open it. My wife ordered a Margarita and wanted it top shelf. We asked the waiter what they had for top shelf and he had no idea. We told him we wanted a Margarita with top shelf tequila. We wanted it on the rocks with salt. What we got was basically lemonade in a glass. It was horrible. I flagged another gentleman over and asked him what this was supposed to be. He said that it looked like the basic low cost margarita. We asked to speak with the bartender. She came over and quickly apologized. She gave us a recommendation and had the drink brought out to us. It was better. While all this was going on we had already ordered our food. Others had come in, been seated and were getting their orders and we were still waiting for ours. Our server told us the kitchen was backed up but there was tons of food coming out all around us. The food was quite good. But, then, a second margaritta was brought to us. I thought is was complimentary because of all the trouble. Nope. The server said it was done by accident. He assured me we would not be charged for it. We constantly had to ask for refills as our drink cups were always empty. Then, when I asked for the check the server just read from his tablet and told us how much it was. I asked for a physical check and he told us the tablet never works right and could not print one out. Wow! I had to take his word for it that the check was right. $79.00 sounded high but I had no way of checking. We just left. I do not see us going back anytime soon nor do...
Read moreWe were so excited to try a new happy hour spot⊠but that died quickly. Our waitress, Sydni was phenomenal! She was responsive and did her best. They got super busy. We waited for 30 minutes to be greeted. The owners just stood there and watched their wait staff struggle! Once Sydni was assigned to our table we were well taken care of. The rest of the staff didnât seem to notice we existed. The bartenders messed up our orders multiple times, lost tickets and tried to lie about it to us, the customer and the service staff. The owners and management need to get their hands dirty and help their staff out! Teamwork! I hated that our waitress had an unnecessarily hard day. She was all smiles and professional, but we could observe the lack of support as they were standing around, in the way doing nothing. Do better! Your staff and customers deserve it. UPDATE: In response to your statement of stepping in to help, if you are the gentleman in the red/pink shirt or the plaid shirt, we noticed you standing in the back not helping until it got seriously chaotic. You were actually in the way for quite awhile. My friend even went to the bar to ask the bartender about our drinks and she lied and said she already made those. Upon the managerâs investigation the ticket was lost and she did not actually make the drinks. Others were helped and fully served before our first round was even found. Do better for your people. As a previous service manager, you need to step it up and help your new staff excel. Also, my name is...
