Ocean State Job Lot is required to be cluttered, strangely lit, and have all the ambience of the store people nervously raid after surviving an apocalypse*. I do encourage you to go if only for that experience. The best part is that you don't have to wait 'til the apocalypse or even Halloween, as this sense of desolation is available year round, in a presently functioning society, and you probably get to come away with some food, potting soil, clothing, party decorations, cleaning agent, yard furniture, pet food, area rug, key chain, school supplies, swim-suit, sad li'l last-minute token toy for a kid--what have you. They have a buuunch of stuff at reduced prices. I've eaten food and used body wash from there and still have the number of eyes and digits I was given at birth--no more, no less. If you have the time to take a look, you could be pleasantly surprised by what you find.
*This is still a functional store, despite the atmosphere. You do still have to pay for the items. Not as alarming or risky as a Walmart. Please be nice to...

The downside is that it's kind of old and so the stores show their age. But there are a couple of restaurants that are pretty good and a dollar store and a Job Lot so that works out pretty well.
