K9s Place — Local services in Melbourne

Didn't end up going to a training evaluation and signing up for classes. Put a $50 deposit down for a training evaluation. Had a medical emergency that day and was unable to make it. I called a few days later, and they happily rescheduled me for a new appointment. Today, the day of the appointment, 4 hours beforehand, they cancel on me, saying the trainer isn't here, and that they'd need to reschedule, but also need a new $50 deposit because I was a "no call, no show". Life happens, as you know, considering they called me to reschedule as well. I wasn't a fan of how rigid this policy was, as well as how one-sided it is, as well as how it was an afterthought to charge me, when they called to reschedule. They're allowed to reschedule same day, but I'm asked for a new deposit for having an urgent medical issue. I have multiple disabilities, and can already tell by my experience thus far that they will not be accommodating regarding scheduling. I'm sad that I won't be giving them my business as I was a highly interested customer before, ready to do multiple classes with my dog. Beware, I got the sense they cared more about the money than working with a potential customer.

What about the fact that I was rescheduled? I understand your policy, but it's one way. You want your trainers' time to be respected, however, I was canceled on this morning for no given reason, and you do not have a policy in place for when YOU cancel on your client. Therefore, making your policy one way and unfair. If you want your trainers time respected, you should also respect your clients' time. My schedule was also affected by your sudden same day unavailability as well. Respect is a two-way street. I should ask for a refund of the deposit if YOU were unavailable same day, if you're allowed to keep it when I'm unavailable due to a medical emergency.

Second edit: I got a private email from Trevor Fromm on July 29th, regarding my original review. He apologized for my poor experience and asked me to take down the review. On August 13th, when I saw the email, I replied. I said I would not take the original review down, but I would be willing to update and revise it if we could come to a solution. I said I wanted to give their business a fair chance and be able to review their offered training services rather than just the poor customer service I received. I asked if I could come in person and meet the trainer and/or see a class.... I have yet to receive a reply, on September 6th. It seems they are more interested in the reviews and only interested in asking me to take it down, instead of taking REAL ACTION to resolve the issue, like I had suggested. If fact, I'm appalled that they would ask me to change my review without giving me any solution to try and remedy a lost customer. This is not the second time they've lost me as a customer, but a THIRD TIME. Not responsive, care more about perfect reviews than building a relationship with their clients, based now on my MULTIPLE experiences with them. What does a person have to do to be shown care? I didn't even do anything wrong other than leave a reply stating my experience every time. And then to ask me to change it without providing a solution? Then, when I offered multiple real solutions, I didn't hear anything back. The single most interesting and disappointing experience I've had with a small business showing a lack of care for a potential customer. Still out my original $50 deposit, too. So they wanted to pocket $50 without me ever receiving a single service from them, and on top of it, have the gall to ask me to bump...

Words cannot describe how thankful I am for K9s place and their incredible trainers. They have seriously worked what feels like a miracle for me and my dog. My dog , Lotti, had struggled with aggression towards people and other dogs for almost 2 years. I had been turned away from other trainers in the past as no one felt comfortable working with her aggression. I began to feel hopeless, as she is my world and I felt like I could no longer even take her outside of my house without her snapping at any given moment. I had also just found out recently that I am having my first child, and I knew if I could not get Lottis aggression under control that I might have had to make the decision of rehoming her, which just even the thought of broke my heart. I desperately called K9s place, and they were able to get me in ASAP for a consultation. We went, and they recommended the two week board and train. As hopeless as I felt, the trainers at K9s place uplifted me and gave me hope that Lotti would change with their amazing program. They got her into the program the following week. Let me tell you, their board and train is worth more than gold. I would do it a million times over again. When I went to pick my dog up on pick up day after the two weeks, I was so anxious to see if she had really changed. When they showed me everything they taught her, all the incredible commands she had learned (sit, down, stay, place, come, heel) , they even brought in another dog to show me that she is now fine with and actually enjoys meeting/ being around other dogs. I couldn’t help but cry when I got to hug my bestfriend again, I didn’t even recognize her and couldn’t believe the miracle they had worked for us. To say I was happy is an understatement. I was overwhelmed with gratitude and joy. I now feel confident in Lottis ability to be around other dogs and humans. I have been able to take my girl for daily walks again, and she now actually LOVES to meet new people and other dogs, and greets them with a wagging tail. I can now take her over to my friends and families houses again. I can take her to pet stores like we used to and let her pick out toys and treats again. She is my ESA so being able to take her on more outings with me means more than you guys will ever know. I feel like I finally have my dog back and I know that I can now trust her 100%. The training has been so easy to keep up with since K9s place completely builds the foundation for you. I cannot believe that my once reactive and aggressive dog is now the complete opposite. She is now easy going, chill, and obedient whenever asked to perform her commands. I cannot thank you guys enough, you seriously changed my life! I recommend this place to anyone with any kind of dog, their slogan any dog any size any problem could not be more true. I would give K9s place a million stars if I could! I will definenly be bringing Lotti back for daycare to continue socializing her, and I will definently be attending pack walks to keep up on her training. From the bottom of my heart, thank you K9s place! I am forever grateful! You guys gave me my dog/ best friend back again and it means more than you...

Trevor and his team at K9s Place was very professional and courteous to me and my fur baby. The staff was very friendly and accommodated all our needs. The facility is very clean and all the dogs seem to have a great time socializing while supervised. I brought them my most prized possession, and they took very good care of her. She was returned to me a very disciplined dog. Thank you K9s Place for all that you did for Carmen and me, you made our lives a lot more manageable. The Pack Walks on Saturday are great reinforcement on the training they received, and is a lot of fun that your dog deserves. My veterinarian referred this school to us and I'm so grateful for that as well. Thanks again K9s Place for "polishing up" my pooch for me. We'll see you guys on Saturday! God bless you. Thank you. REVISED** I just read a review that saddened me. Ms. Mallick who gave K9s Place a one star had the audacity and nerve to complain about a fifty dollar deposit that wasn't returned to her. Well let me tell you something, I was a rescue worker during 9/11 and was assigned to the north tower pile to attempt to rescue people. after breathing in all of that dust for 8 months, I developed Stage 4, Inoperable, General Intestinal Cancer. I lost my service dog on September 13th 2024. Trevor not only stepped up and accommodated my treatment schedule, but also helped me out with pricing, due the last presidential administrative's failure on treating us. Trevor and his team at K9s Place was more than fair and I certainly didn't cry about my medical condition or try to get 50 dollars back because of my condition. This is his livelihood, and your review was not fair at all! In my eyes and in my case, Trevor went above and beyond to help me and my dog, and I resent that's someone like you would attempt to blow his service up over your medical condition.
