Shopped here many times before for anything from light bulbs to flooring. Everything was always fine. But my most recent experience was so poor, and lack of any follow-up from the staff makes me feel a Google review is definitely warranted. I originally stopped at the kitchen design department back in the middle of March. I was given a competitive quote for the drop zone lockers and told the kitchen sales person (Marlene) that I would like to proceed with the order. I also wanted installation by Home Depot so had to pay for their installer to come and measure which took a few weeks but he did come and measure. At the time the labor quote was around $2200-2500. After the measurements were done it took weeks to hear back on the design of three cabinets! It's a couple lockers off of the garage. I kept following up with Marlene and would get a response like a week or so after my inquiry. My concert was that the special which provided a good price for the cabinets will expire but Marlene assured me it will be honored (I have emails stating that!). During all this time I never got an updated quote for labor. But when the locker design was finally ready, the special did expire and I was told they would not honor the price quoted to me until the same special would be run again. The delay was never on my part - I always was prompt to respond and was eager to get the order going. I reported this to the managers at Home Depot, never got so much as an email recognition of my concern. So I gave up on the project until mid June I was contacted by Marlene who said they were running the same special again. I asked her for the pricing and it did go up $400 than the original quote but I was ok with it as a couple corner beads and trim was added to the order and I figured it's as good as it gets. I gave the go ahead right away. The project again needed to go thru their design team (no changes were made to the design). Two-three weeks of waiting to be quoted $2000 over the previous quote for cabinets and $1000 over labor estimate! When I questioned it the cabinet price did come down but still almost $1000 over the original quote, and no explanation of why the labor went up so much... They would not release the measurements that I paid for and no apology for erroneous...
Read moreAll Home Depots are not created equal! You would think what you get from one big box store is what you’re going to get at all of them. You couldn’t be more wrong! Most Home Depots I’ve been to have been adequate. Nothing exceptionally good or bad. There is the occasional long wait time on hold when you call, but nothing noteworthy.
Then I went to the Menomonee Falls HD. Let me tell you, it’s six miles farther than the two that are closest to me, but well worth the drive (and that’s saying a lot with gas prices as high as they are)!
I was trying to buy a zero turn mower for our church and their system was having a problem taking the new tax exempt number. One of the workers there, Lynn worked on getting it into the system for over 40 minutes! She tirelessly made numerous attempts to get the information submitted, but to no avail. She even made several calls to various departments and people in their corporate offices. When this didn’t work, she found a reasonable work around. Unfortunately when we got to the point of checking out, her computer froze.
Believing things were straightened out, I came back the next day to make the purchase. Unfortunately, Lynn wasn’t there, but 𝙖𝙣𝙤𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧 worker, Leanne picked up where Lynn left off. She proved to be just as tenacious as Lynn when it came to making the necessary adjustments. Unfortunately, the computer once again froze.
Seeing how singleminded these workers were, I was undeterred and came back a third time. When I came back, Lynn was waiting for me with the proper paperwork. We sailed through checkout and scheduled the delivery.
When the mower came, I carefully read through the thick manual but still couldn’t get the machine started. So I decided to call the store and Bret (I think he said Bret) in the tool rental department walked me through what I needed to do to get the machine going. He even volunteered to stay on the phone with me to make sure everything was working properly!
All big box stores are 𝙣𝙤𝙩 created equal! Some are a cut above the rest! The Home Depot in Menomonee Falls is the only place you need to go to for all of your home improvement needs! Trust me, it’s...
Read moreProcessed a return because I had my brother order something for me, but he ordered the wrong part. Money had already traded hands, so I asked the return associate in store if I could get it on MY card instead. I had a valid ID on me with the same last name as his account. She said I could only get it back on his card or as store credit, even though they basically had a reciept of purchase on his account with the exact items I was holding, so I really can't believe I was being denied cash. I asked if the store credit was a gift card, she said yes. I wanted to get home and order my online-only items, so I didn't ask any more questions, didn't read the fine print on the card, and went home.
I am now trying to use it to buy what I'd originally wanted (not Home Depot's fault), but apparently you CAN'T buy things online with store credit. WHY NOT?? It's the same money to you.
You also can't just order the item with your own debit card and return it to the store, and then use the store credit to buy it back, because it's not a stock item so when it's returned they can't release it back to a customer. Trust me, I called and asked. So freaking corporate and ridiculous. Home Depot doesn't care about its customers.
Employees were kind, but the first definitely should have said that store credit was NOT a gift card, and that I couldn't use it online. That's not something the average customer would know.
Now I have to jump through hoops and save this dumb card for the next time I need something. Truly insulting for how much money I spend...
