Men's Warehouse in Meriden sells you false promises and unfortunately for my brother it was at the cost of our other brother's most important event (wedding). Our experience started out a good one but when it mattered the most that experience quickly plummeted into a chaotic mess.
Our first visit to Meriden (the fitting) went well for both my brother and myself. The guy who fitted us was VERY good and he was very knowledgeable when it came to discussing proper jacket sizes even though we didn't need one in the end. The entire first visit was over in a matter of 30 minutes. Later that day (or the following day) I made some adjustments to my date of pickup. Since the event was 7 hours away, I would need it before I left to stay at the wedding party hotel. So I switched to a Wednesday pickup. My brother's would come a day later than myself so his date of pickup would be Thursday. Both of those dates were confirmed over the phone when I switched my date (my brother's was always Thursday...judt wanted to double check).
When it came time for pickup my clothing was ready as advertised. When my brother came Thursday it was not. They tolthere yet to come back tomorrow because it wasn't ready yet. It was 1.5 hr drive for nothing.. The rehearsal and dinner was Friday. He told them that he needed it in the am as he had to check in hotel and have time before wedding rehearsal because of the 7 hour drive.
He came Friday and guess what.... no clothing was there for my brother. At about 2-3pm on Friday they finally decided that they were going to try and do a rush delivery to a Men's Wearhouee only 1 hr away from the wedding venue. Something that they should have done yesterday as soon as they realized it was going to be cutting it close. My brother missed the wedding rehearsal because the decision was made by Men's Warehouse so late into Friday, missed out helping with wedding setup earlier on Friday and he lost money from the hotel that he booked for the hours he couldn't utilize. He didn't get to hotel near venue until almost midnight after a straight drive from Men's Warehouse.
The next day he had to do a 2 hr round-trip drive to get his rented clothing for the wedding party at the nearest Men's Warehouse. Luckily the clothing was there but he also missed remaining wedding set up Saturday morning and some of the groom party photos. When he finally got the clothing it was missing socks. He didn't know this until he was dressing with everyone for wedding. Luckily another groomsmen had similar color of socks so he gave my brother the socks he had instead. Men's Warehouse failed to deliver and when it came to make the tough decisions they failed to act fast enough so that my brother's wedding plans weren't disrupted. Luckily the clothes were there for the wedding but how thankful should we be for that inconvenience.
Oh and did I mention that shoes for the entire party were originally suppose to be black and we all were wearing brown. Nothing like Men's Warehouse to redesign the wedding look....
Read moreI never post reviews but the overall experience I've had at this store was so good I feel obligated to share since I see some negative reviews. My best suit was damaged at the dry cleaners so I had to buy a suit that night for a very important business trip the next day. The store was the only store open when I realized the situation and from what I saw is immaculately maintained. The service I received from the two salesman upon arriving was outstanding. They were both very pleasant and knowledgeable and from a customer service standpoint were perfect. I was very stressed when I arrived and looking forward to my trip when I left. Since there was no time for alterations the suit didn't quite fit right, so I went to the store to return it last night (88 days later) and since it was worn a return would be at the managers discretion. The manager treated me beyond fair and accepted the return even though the store simply takes the ~$500 hit. In a world where customer service is a lost art form this store is a throw back and it we was truly a pleasure interacting with salesman that took the role seriously. I am certain 95% of people will have a positive experience at this store. There's always that 5% who would complain that a free coffee is too cheap, which explains the small number of...
Read moreI don't post leave many reviews cause I'm lazy but every so often I have to give a public shout-out for an exceptional service/product. I can't say enough good things about my experience at MW in Meriden and particularly Emily.
I was performing my niece's wedding and needed an updated wardrobe. Emily was able to size me up right off the bat when I walked in without even taking a measurement. I told her what I was looking for and every part of the suit she brought me (pants, shirt, jacket, shoes) were perfect the 1st time. Didn't need to look for 2nd options.
I'm no fan of shopping, particularly clothes shopping, I dread it. Emily could not of made this easier and dare I say, enjoyable. She spent over an hour with me going through the clothes and marking them up for alterations. I never felt rushed. The employees at MW work commission-free so there's no upselling. It was honestly just a great shopping experience.
I thought it was just some cheesy tagline but they were absolutely right; I loved the way I looked! Talk about truth in advertising. Thanks Emily for all your help and expertise, I wouldn't go anywhere else for formal wear....
