I was told about this barbershop twice by my mother and a friend who had seen it in a news article that mentioned they were special needs trained and certified. My son is a 3 1/2 year old autistic child with a head full of curly curly hair. He is not one to stay still very well or for very long so I was pretty hesitant to bring him anywhere but I decided to give this barbershop a try since I couldnât maintain his hair anymore.
I reached out to Eddie (the owner) through Instagram and booked us with no problem. The place was easy to find and there was sufficient parking. When we arrived (on a Sunday) it wasnât busy and he took us right after he finished with his previous client. Eddie was very friendly with my son, made sure to introduce himself to him and make him feel comfortable. As much as my son was squirming, Eddie worked on my sonâs pace. He didnât rush, was very patient and considerate of my son and his behavior. Which I thoroughly appreciate.
Overall I had a great experience and felt at ease throughout the haircut. So we will be going back for his next hair cut! As an autism mom I thank you again for your hard work, dedication, compassion and empathy to providing a safe and caring environment for special needs children. And even having your other barbers trained for special needs children. The thoughtfulness that goes into wanting to make changes in the barbering industry in that aspect is a HUGE thing, especially when there arenât many spaces for them to...
Read moreNew review: 9/3/23 Luke had his second haircut with Eddie. I was nervous because I feared the first haircut had been a âhoneymoon successâ and maybe this one would not go as well. But again Eddie did an amazing job connecting with Luke. He gave Luke a fabulous haircut again and the whole experience was awesome. Eddie is kind, patient and incredibly skilled at connecting to people (and with the scissors/clippers, of course!) Thank you, Eddie!
Eddie was AMAZING! I can not say enough. My son is 17 years old with autism and very severe behavioral challenges and anxiety with anything new. He has not had a decent haircut in many years. Well, he has had his hair cut (last time was in 2021) but it had not been pleasant or very good! His hair was so long that he always wore a man bun! From the fist contact I had with Eddie on the phone and then with texts, he was amazing. Kind and professional from the first contact: We walked in and I knew it would be ok! From my end, I prepared my son well and made the day fun beforehand (two fave activities) and then promised to get skittles afterward, but it was really Eddieâs magic that made it all work! We will return for sure and I am forever grateful. I might add itâs a long ride for us as well like many others have said but...
Read moreWe booked an online appointment 10:30. The workers there were confused about the appointment. It was way too crowded for COVID. The barber we scheduled our appointment with for my autistic son was working on someone who wasn't even wearing a mask and based on how the place looked they probably weren't even going to sanitize that chair before it was our turn. There was a woman still waiting in the waiting area who had an appointment for 10:00. This place supposedly specializes in autistic children but if they actually did they would know how important it is for the appointment to be prompt. I would give this place zero Stars if I could. We walked out. Never again.
EDIT: Since the facility accused me of booking my appointment wrong, adding a photo proving I got an email confirmation saying that my appointment was booked. I also got multiple texts confirming that my appointment was booked. If you are going to set up an online/automated booking system maybe you should take the time to learn to use it properly. C.A.T.S is literally one of your online booking options and you have no idea what it is. It says it even says it in the screenshot of the...
