I had the WORST customer service experience in my ENTIRE life over and over again at a Kay Jewelers location in Okemos, MI. I brought in my engagement ring to get it resized. It was a cheaper ring, I knew.. But it was given to me by the love of my life and I knew it was what we could afford within reason given our situation. An opal was in the center. The first man I talked to to get it resized undeniably and shamelessly scoffed at me when I told him it was my engagement ring and asked me again if it was really my engagement ring. He then asked me how much it cost and i told him i didnt know because i didnt buy it. He then gave me an attitude and said that he would put the estimate at $200. It would take 2 weeks for it to come in. I was annoyed and rather insulted but waited til the day it was supposed to come in. On that day I called ahead of time to see if it was there. The woman told me she would call me back. When she did she told me that they broke my opal and word didn't get to them on tso (i also work in customer service) and that I knew it wasnt her fault but that I was EXTREMELY disappointed because that was my engagement ring. She also scoffed at me in disbelief and asked me "really?" then proceeded to tell me that it was going to eventually break anyways because it is a soft stone. I told her that she was misaing the point because if I were to break it it would be because of my doing and not theirs. She told me it would be replaced and that I would have to wait for them to call me when it comes in. At that point I had a breakdown when I got off the phone. I cried in anger in feeling so helpless and couldn't believe that I was insulted yet another time over the same ring that meant everything to me. When I could get the ring I had to bring our children in there and puck it up. I talked to the same woman and a different man. The woman tried to defend herself against how rude she was on the phone and not once apologized but told me that she would have her manager get ahold of me. The man i talked to was sincere and apologetic to me which was nice. That was about a month ago. Since then my opal setting was wrong and it fell out (thankfully) at my work so we found it. I never got a call back from the manager. Since then I am fearful of going back in there because I'm afraid of the way I will be treated there. I know that not all stores function in this manner. I am hoping that someone in Kay jewers will reach out to me and make this right again. I am still so upset. And am not wearing my engagement ring...
Read moreI have never written a review before, but my fiance and I experience at this store has forced my hand. This is the first place we went to together looking for rings, but we wanted to take our time and make an informed decision. At first everyone seemed nice, but as time went on we felt extremely pressured by the workers to the point of annoyance. They never left us alone so we could talk privately about our opinions on the rings. After, all the other ring places we shopped at their workers were a lot less pressuring and we felt more comfortable such as Zales, Azzi, and Medawar. Still, a ring caught our eye so we ordered it to her size and with a bigger diamond to see how we liked it. In order to do this I gave them all my contact information. I got a call a little bit later saying it was ready. We went back and had to give them my drivers license so my fiance could try on the sized ring. After trying it on we decided that we preferred other rings we had found. The workers made it challenging to leave, they persisted on making another appointment even though we implied we weren't interested. The situation was very uncomfortable and in our rush to get away we did not realize that the workers never returned my drivers license. A week later we decided on our ring and that is when I realized my license was missing. I thought Kay couldn't have had it since they had my contact information and thought they would call me once they knew they didn't give it back to me. Wrong! But I called Kay and they did have it the whole time and never thought to contact me. I went to pick the ID up a couple days later and the worker couldn't find it so they said they would mail it...five days and counting and I still haven't received it. My fiance and I have been frustrated and disappointed in their service and would not recommend doing business...
Read moreMy experience with Kays @ the Okemos location customizing a ring was a joke. First, they quoted me $1300 and charged my fiancé 2100. The design was hand drawn and shipped to Saginaw where i waited 4 weeks for a computerized image. I called for status and was told to come on in because they have had the image for weeks but I never received a call. It looked nothing like the design i created with the woman I had been working with. I was visibly upset and she told me to get on Pinterest and send her some ideas. (As if we hadn't drawn the exact design I wanted together and showed her the exact look with multiple examples in the store?) We made changes to the ring, waited another 2 weeks and the ring was still not what I asked for. I then made changes with the manager who was very helpful so I was hopeful things were being taken care of. Two weeks later, my fiancé received a call that my mold was in. I never gave the okay for a mold to be made because changes were still being made. They created a mold for the ring designed 2 weeks prior before applying the changes that I made to it. I decided to pull my rings back 2 months in and will be taking my business else where. The staff was unprofessional, unorganized and unsympathetic throughout the entire process. The manager was working when i picked up my rings and never once asked why I was pulling my business or apologized for my experience. When I asked for my fiancé to be refunded his down payment, she said she would contact customer service and contact me asap. Two weeks later and I still have not heard from her. I contacted sales myself and my fiancé will be refunded.
I just returned from Wheat Jewelers in Okemos who provided amazing customer service and designed my ring on a computer right before my eyes. The ring is made at their location and only takes 2 weeks for the...
