I like this store, this review is being left purely as a message to management: if you recently came up with a new incentive structure for your employees, it is NOT working so revoke it. If you didn't, times are hard - please pay your employees properly.
I came in here recently and had the absolute most bizarre experience! I was helped by a very sweet & friendly woman while browsing the perfume section. She was so nice but tbh the help was almost supervisory - like who wants to smell various perfumes while someone is watching them from a foot away & talking to them the entire time? Maybe I looked like a potential thief on this particular day haha but I haven't been told that I look suspicious before so for purposes of this review I've assumed that isn't the reason.
When she hesitantly left to check out another customer, a second employee instantaneously popped up asking me if I need help. I had come into the store to look at two necklaces I saw online, so I asked Employee 2 where the jewelry section is. Instead of directing me, she brought me there and, again, while looking at me from a foot away the entire time, watched as I looked at the jewelry. At this point, I was starting to get uncomfortable. I really just came in to glance at something and then shop around, but wherever I went I was being supervised by an anxious entourage.
There was a bit of an issue finding one of the necklaces, so I said nvm and escaped, hoping for an opportunity to just browse. Seeing no one at the perfume section, I returned to look around. Within seconds, Employee 1 was back enthusiastically making recommendations. Being in a good mood, and seeing as she was actually super nice, I asked her a couple questions and she recommended a perfume that I thought I really liked - but within less than a minute Employee 2, along with yet another employee, appeared to talk to me about necklaces.
All 3 were surrounding & talking to me - there was this weird Animal Planet energy (you know, where different carnivores all see the same deer). I decided to depart from the center of the evil-glare competition that appeared to be happening and I ran - not walked - RAN out of there as fast as my legs would take me lolll.
I'm just saying, Bloomingdales, please reevaluate your incentive structure.
Sincerely, A...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIF I COULD GIVE NEGATIVE ALL STARS, I WOULD!!! I am beyond disappointed with the service I received from the customer service center and the manager at this location.
I recently purchased a pair of boots, which I tried on and walked around in at the store as suggested by the salesperson assisting me. When I got home and had more time to think, I realized the boots were slightly tight. I went back the very next day to return them, only to be rudely dismissed. The staff, including the manager, told me the boots were not in āresellable condition,ā despite the fact that I only tried them on as instructed and walked in them briefly at home.
What made this experience even worse was the rude and dismissive attitude of the staff. Thereās always a way to communicate respectfully, but they were unprofessional and downright disrespectful.
On top of the terrible customer service, another major reason why people should avoid this store is the way they treat customers. Every time Iāve been there, Iāve noticed employees and security intensely following people around the store as if theyāre thieves. Itās incredibly uncomfortable and unwelcoming. Iāve seen this happen to myself and others, and it feels targeted and discriminatory. How can anyone shop comfortably when being constantly watched and treated like a criminal?
Iāve spent a lot of money at Bloomingdaleās and used to recommend it to others, but after this experience, I wonāt be returning and will be warning my friends about the appalling customer service. Save yourself the frustration and shop...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWould rate zero stars if I could. Was followed around the entire time I shopped with my friends. First followed by multiple employees then followed even more intensely and aggressively by the security guard. We felt so uncomfortable that we spoke to an employee about it. We were told it may be because theyāve had thefts 3 days in a row. But thatās not the case. Even after speaking to the employee we were still followed intensely by the security guard. We even split up at one point to see if we would still be followed individually- we were. This is not an exaggeration, I have never experienced anything like this in my life. So much so that I recorded the security guard intensity following soley my group (after he was asked to back off from the employee we spoke to) and a woman coming up to me for the third time asking me if I needed help. How can I comfortably shop when an employee is standing directly behind me watching my every move? It seemed as only my all black group was followed. We were going to buy a few things too but decided not to after our experience. Beware- not brown people friendly, you will be followed.
(Picture is a screenshot from my video of him watching us, he was standing directly behind us once again and we turned around and decided to record him. He followed us and stood behind us from the shoe section, to the bag section, through the perfume section, and to the...
