I went into the store today to purchase some games. I had 7 games total, 3 for the original Xbox, 3 for the 360, and 1 for the PS1. They were running a special, buy two and get one free. So, I would have gotten two of my games free.
After I was rang up, the cashier told me it would be around $84. I repeated the total to him to verify it was correct since it seemed awfully high for the games I was getting (the most expensive game I had was $12.99). He repeated the same amount. I handed $40 cash and told him the rest would be on my card. Before putting my card in, I asked, "Does that include the two games free?" He said yes. So, I inserted my card. After my card was processed, he then looked at the receipt and asked if the stack of games I had was all I was getting. I told him yes.
He told me he accidently charged me for a controller that was left on a previous ticket. He had me sign a receipt for the transaction and then handed me my receipt and an in store credit for the price of the controller. My friend who was with me at the time asked why I couldn't just get a refund for the controller since it was charged to me by a mistake of their own? He stated that their store policy says they can't refund any credit card transactions and that the in store credit is the best they can do.
I understand mistakes happen and I don't blame the employees for this antiquated store policy. But, this wouldn't have happened if the cashier had properly reviewed the transaction when I asked to verify the total
With this instance, how terribly the store is organized, and a less than 50% guarantee that the cases on the shelves are actually going to have games for them. I will no longer be shopping at...
Read moreI just left the store without the games I selected. Ethan is the most unhelpful, apathetic customer service associate I have ever had the displeasure to meet. The store is clean but unkempt. I found a small selection of games to purchase. Ethan then tried to sell me his personal copy of Pokémon Black 2. I declined. Ethan would not look up my in-store credit. Ethan was very blasé about my recommendation that he reach out to someone or another store for help. Ethan continued saying things like, “It would be hard” or “cause they’re not here they couldn’t walk me through it”. He gave zero effort. I left my stack of games there. I guess you shouldn’t trade your games there since you can’t access your own credit when Ethan is working. Beware trading with Ethan at Game X Change! It was a good shopping experience until the last minute. If I wanted to shop with zero help, I can do that at home in my pajamas online. I shop at specialty hobby shops for the professional help and knowledge, neither of which Ethan displayed during my shopping experience. I hope I can go back on a day when someone can earn their paycheck and actually help me access the credit I wanted to use today. It is only $50ish in credit. I was about to spend $180 though. They just missed $130 positive cashflow due to Ethan’s apathetic attitude. If I go to this store when he is working, I am turning right back around to leave. He will waste your time and not care. Edit: 4/09/2024 Earl changed our experience completely! He went above and beyond to locate our store credit we had been trying to use for years. He is personable and polite. The store is much cleaner now as well. Updating from one...
Read moreI'm a long time gamer and I know what I'm looking for when I come in the gaming stores. What turned me away was the customer service. This was nearby so I thought I would pick something up instead of ordering it online which is pretty easy to do nowadays but I like to support the gaming stores. two younger staff behind the counter need to work on their engagement skills, I asked if they had two items in stock, which I'm sure they had both and they didn't even make a reasonable attempt to look. One of the items was for sure in the display case I was looking directly at where it would have been but all they said was "sorry we don't have either" not to discredit the business but you know these little things will always make me walk the other way not that hard. got to do better on training staff with product knowledge and placement. If you see something in this store you're going to have to point it out to them in order to get it. If you need help finding something you're better off Elsewhere based off...
