The Pin Deck — Local services in Miami Township

When I walked into the Pin Deck my first impression was good. Very clean and the staff was welcoming and friendly. The "bouncer" just let me in without carding me which was strange because you need a wrist band to drink alcohol, so I had to go back and get one from him before ordering a drink from the bar.

The Bowling was fun but a bit pricey and it broke down on my group several times. No big deal, they gave us an extra 10 minutes at the end for the inconvenience.

When my group of 12 initially arrived several of us started ordering double gin and tonics from the bar. The bar tender charged us each $4 for the drinks. "Wow, great deal!" we thought. Then one person in our group was charged $6 for the same drink. We thought that was strange but then laughed it off and moved on. Once our bowing lanes were ready, we moved over to the bowling area and had a wonderful server named Shannon (I think). She was very attentive and pleasant to interact with. After our bowling hour was up and several of us had continued to order more drinks, Shannon brings us the bill and had charged us each $7 for the drinks. I explained to her what we had initially paid at the bar and she went to ask the manager, Jamal. Jamal then comes to explain to me that the bar had originally rung up the drinks wrong and that he could not charge us $4 for the drinks. I admittedly got defensive. I had worked in the bar and restaurant industry for two years and know how these situations should go. I told Jamal that my group was under the impression that the drinks were $4 because that is what we had been charged initially. Him and a bar tender explained that the bar tender that rang in the drinks was new and didn't know what she was doing and that is why they were so cheap. Another bar tender admits that she made the drink for us wrong and tries to justify the cheap pricing that way. I told them, it doesn't matter to me, as a customer, if someone was new or if the drinks were made wrong. We ordered our drinks a certain way and we were changed $4 so that is what we were expecting to pay for the entirety of our visit. Jamal then threatens to throw me out of the bar if I didn't pay the $7 for the drinks. THROW ME OUT! All I was doing was standing up for my group and the rates we were being charged and I'm threatened to be thrown out? I wasn’t cursing or even making a scene. Just defending my group. That is absurd. To avoid further confrontation, I agreed to pay the bill. I gave the serve a very generous tip for being dragged into the situation and I expressed how unhappy I was with the experience to Jamal who responded very unconvincingly that he was "sorry to hear that". I understand how you cannot discount alcohol. Like I said, I worked in the bar industry for two years. He could have at least given us a free app, or a free hour of bowling, or something to show that we had been wronged. Nothing was done. I was only shown the door.

So this place is new and really nice inside. Their balls were all organized by size. There are only 12 lanes so may not be able to get a lane if it's busy but I've been here twice around noon when it's not as busy and it's not an issue. If I were grading the place just on how nice the place is it would be 5 stars easily. My problem was the inattentive staff who hide in the back the whole time. It was noon and I was starving yet no waitress ever checked in to see if we wanted to order anything like they are supposed to. The last time we came a waitress did come to our lane when we first got in but when I only asked for a water she got pissed because we didn't order any food and never came back so no water, and no food which we might have ordered after she brought the water. A little attentiveness goes a long way and you'd make more money if you actually try and serve your guests. Honestly it was really frustrating. When we were finished with our game we had to search for someone to place our orders took at least 15 minutes to find anyone. There wasn't even a bartender behind the bar, we had to ask the lady at the service desk just to find someone to take our orders. Very unprofessional. So if all you want is to bowl in a nice new alley this is your place but if your looking service this place isn't the greatest we ordered drinks (strawberry scratch and the pin deck) and both of them looked like pepto bismol and tasted like cough syrup. Needless to say we didn't drink them. The fried pickles weren't bad. We also got two dogs, I got the pin deck and my boyfriend got the wasabi dog. My hotdog wasn't bad but it was actually kind of bland which I wasn't expecting. My boyfriend didn't seem like he liked his very much. Bowling is like double the price on the weekends so if your going to go, your better off going during the week. Great Venue, AMAZING STAFF and delicious food! The Pin Deck just hosted my husband's birthday and it was FABULOUS! From planning the event to the final execution, we had wonderful communication with the staff that ensured everything met our expectations. This birthday party more than met our expectations! We got there early to decorate and the staff went above and beyond to provide whatever we needed to decorate. Then another member asked the name of the birthday person, and she displayed " Happy Birthday" on the TVs. The party hosts were amazing and ready to serve every need we had. The food display was great and so plentiful. Our guests ate beyond their fill. The ambiance of The Pin Deck is so much fun. Our guests enjoyed bowling and that environment made it easier for them to interact with new people in a fun way. The owners are great and made sure that our experience was first class! If you ever want to have any sort of party, this is the place to be. They have great party packages at reasonable prices that your guests will enjoy. The packages also provide a bonus $10 Scene 75 card for each guest that adds to the fun. Our guests bowled, ate beyond their fill, played Shuffle Board, Table Tennis and Pool and then enjoyed fun activities at Scene 75. I am so happy we had my husband's birthday here. We will be celebrating many more milestones here!!!! This place offers something for everyone of every age.
