First time here at Pickles and Bones BBQ. I could smell the smoke from a half mile down the street at my job site so I headed over for a late lunch around 2pm. Full disclosure- I travel the country for work and have the opportunity to enjoy food from all over and having lived in Texas for 12 years, tacos and BBQ have a special place in my heart palate. I was set on a typical 2 or 3 meat plate with sides but when I saw their daily special was brisket tacos… whoa Nelly, best of both worlds! The brisket was simply divine. Loved it. And wil the cotija cheese, lime crema and cilantro it was delicious. But what really impressed me was the tortillas. These weren’t your average Sysco corn tortillas oh no. I’m guessing they were house made. Very pronounced corn flavor, very fresh and held up well throughout the bites. Unlike others that are mealy and fall apart as you’re eating them. Just wonderful! For my sides I opted for the basics: Mac n cheese and green beans. Mac n cheese was good. Cheesy, creamy and flavorful. Green beans were tender with a peppery note. Sweet tea to wash it down with was, well sweet tea. Overall an awesome experience and I’m really looking forward to going back! 9.1/10

I visited Pickles and Bones at their carry out only location a long time ago. I remember being impressed, but not overly so. When I started seeing things on social media about their new restaurant, it sparked my curiosity and I knew I needed to give them another try. Happy to report back that I was stoked with this experience. Food was fantastic. The people were all very nice and helpful. I was there with my two toddlers and my son was getting a bit cranky while waiting for our food. All of the staff were very nice about a loud one year old and kept us posted about our order when it took a little longer than expected. As a long time brisket fan and Texan living in greater Cincinnati, I’m used to being disappointed. That was not the case here. I immediately was impressed when I saw a proper offset smoker rolling good, clean smoke out back, and the food hit right where I wanted it to. Prices are high, but that’s what I’ve come to expect with all bbq. Brisket was $33/lb when I was there which puts it just below the cost of some of the big names in Texas. Definitely worth the cost. My whole family loved it. It’s a bit of a hike for me to get to Milford, but I’m already looking forward to our next visit.

I don't know, maybe it was an off day or something, but the cook was not cooking this day. The food looked great and smells great, which kinda thrown me off when I tasted it. The meat was juicy but was dry Meat didn't have no favor to it, not a smoky taste that I was looking for the bbq sauce did just not the meat The white bbq sauce is not where it's at you got to much favor going on in that white sauce it's good, just a lot going on in that sauce that makes it bad if that make any since. The Mac was ok, not the best, but passable for the small side that comes with it... Chessy potato needs to be off the menu that crap was nasty.. The hot link was.. and I'm sorry, but that was the only thing that was great about the meal I paid 25.50 and I even tip hoping that it was goin to be at least good cuz I tipped and I normal can't tip so all together 29.50 for only one thing to taste good and every thing else bad 5/10 The worker was nice, she explained everything and even explained the white sauce so like I said may be it was an off day that the food was bad but all I know it is it's goin to be a while before I come back to this place

This is how barbecue is supposed to be!

I had the opportunity to try a lot of the menu and my only regret was not ordering more for the next day.

The restaurant was very clean and I liked the retro styling of the chairs. They managed the space available for seating well.

The staff was incredible, everyone was so nice and very attentive.

The smoked wings were fantastic with a wonderful rub and easy smokey flavor. The skins on the wings were not soggy and the chicken was juicy.

The hush puppies were nice! They had a bit of a pop from the Jalapeños

The Hanky Panky potato skins are a must try item! They had the perfect amount of cheese, and potato left on the skins to support the Hanky.

The Brisket quesadilla is perfect when paired with the cilantro lime sauce! The acid helps cut through the richness of the Brisket and cheese and brings a very welcomed bright note.

My wife ordered a pulled pork sandwich and it came out piled high with meat. She had green beans and potato casserole as side items and she enjoyed them.

I ordered the 2 meat plate with Brisket and Turkey. The brisket served was amazing. 2 thick slices of lean. 1 thick slice of fatty and 1 piece of what seemed to be what could have been a "burnt end". The lean brisket was perfectly seasoned and not dry with a very good smoke flavor. The fatty slice is to die for. Super moist and rich with beef flavor. The burnt end was incredible, heavily seasoned and paired perfectly with some of the fatty slice. The turkey is definitely something that you have to try! I believe i had 5, maybe 6, thick slices that were well seasoned and moist with smokey flavor throughout. My wife was jealous that she didn't order the turkey!

I had baked beans as a side and they were rich with a little zing from the Jalapeños. The beans were a good texture and were loaded with Brisket. I added some of their hot vinegar sauce to them which I encourage you try as well.

The prices were respectable especially when considering the portions they are giving out. My family will be back and we are excited to see what they could have in store for the future. I would be excited to...

My husband has been wanting to try this place for YEARS. We were traveling through the area today so we stopped for dinner. We were both a bit shocked at how bad the food was after all of the positive reviews we’ve seen. Hubby had the pulled pork, greens & Mac & cheese. All were subpar. The pulled pork was so dry. He loves bbq and we’ve eaten at plenty of good places so it’s not that we’re inexperienced with good bbq. I had the pulled chicken, mac & cheese and potato casserole. Chicken was greasy and tasted awful. Sides were bland and were most likely premade from a restaurant supply store. I did not eat any of it. We had the nachos as well. Toppings were skimpy but nachos were ok. Our kids had the cheeseburger kids meal and the chicken strips. Cheeseburger was great per my son. None of them liked the Mac & cheese or the chicken. The chicken strips looked hand breaded and had the potential to be good but they’re tasted like they’d been in a greasy fryer for days. We spent over $100 on this meal, and we’re still scratching our heads over how bad it was. They close at 8 and we came at 7 so maybe we just got the bottom of the barrel, but your last plate served should be as good as the first plate served. Service was great and food came out relatively quick. The restaurant was clean and easily accessible but we are so disappointed...

Amazing pulled pork, brisket, and chicken. Sides are so good it’s hard to choose. Great coleslaw and mac&cheese. Carolina style mustard sauce is really good. Carry out only. Great staff. Another great meal. I thought that the mac&cheese was my favorite side, but we had cheesy potato casserole. Might have a new favorite.

03/2023 I have to keep updating my reviews on this wonderful food. Always consistently good and great quality. The special sandwich on this visit was chopped brisket, mushrooms, swiss cheese and horseradish sauce. Really tasty. We also tried the pasta salad for the first time. It’s up there with the Mac & cheese and the cheesy potato casserole. Another great meal.

8/19/23 Everything was delicious as always. Today I am going to focus on the baked beans. Spicy but not too hot. Flavor profile is great with the addition of brisket. These beans are always perfectly cooked. Not hard or mushy. Just right!

11/17/23 Another encounter of great food. I’m just going to add to my previous posts. Brisket and sides are amazing as always. I had sausages for the first time and what a great flavor. Juicy and just a hint of heat. And the blueberry cobbler rivals the peach cobbler. Remember that they are moving in the next few weeks. Fortunately still very...
