I wished I read the reviews before taking my husband on his first horseback riding trip. When we arrived at the office, Bill was the employee that spoke with us. He was the oldest man on staff. He asked my husband how much he weighed and then asked me. I told Bill less than my husband and gave a range. FYI: We both are below the maximum weight requirement. I was told that they'll have me get on a scale when we return for our 1 pm ride. -not that they'll weigh both of us as a standard for the safety of their horses. No, just me. Upon returning and after signing our lives away on the waivers, Bill took our waivers and the older lady asked me if I was within their weight requirements. I said yes and gave her a range again saying less than my husband. She asked me to get on the scale and upon seeing that I was way under the requirement she said okay. My husband asked her why did you have her get on the scale and not ask me to be weighed. I said because they believed you. The women commented that she liked my cross/Our Lady of Guadalupe pendent and said oh, I believed her. Each staff person checked and adjusted the saddles prior to mounting and adjusted the stirrups once mounted. The trail guide (a young lady) was nice, gave clear instructions, and it was an easy trail ride for first time riders, like my sweetheart. The horses fall in line and just follow the leading horse. The horses looked healthy and the stables were cleaned out for them. After, my husband went back into the office to confront the older man, Bill. My husband expressed how he did not appreciate singling his wife out to get on the scale and not him. Bill expressed it's for the safety of the horses and my husband rebutted that's not the issue. To which, Bill simply said, if that's how you feel, that's how you feel. Upon looking to write a review, I read up on what other people said. Lord knows if the man, Bill, is racist. I'm Latina and my hubby can pass for a Caucasian. It's okay, Jesus loves me and so does my hubby. When Bill meets my Jesus, Jesus can explain how I'm not a liar and what a shame that he doesn't see the beauty of all shades of His...
Read moreGreat Horses, Horrible Staff. If I could give -100000 stars I would. They were all rude old white people who were very racist and did not care about anyone’s safety or at least my family’s.The white family before us did not even pay beforehand and stayed to pay while as soon as we arrived we were immediately told to pay. We were given no prior instructions except hold the lead and hold a handle. The horse yanked the lead away from me and I got told immediately if I let go one more time then I’d be kicked off my horse. Even though she never said this information before. Then she rudely yelled out NO REFUNDS! She also had a very rude tone over the phone. So we go off on our trail with 6 people and only one frail old woman at front. We were leading our own horses and she was talking out instructions as she went. I say talking because nobody could hear her except the two people behind her and one wasn’t even paying attention. We told the lady very loudly that we could not hear her. She looks is dead in the eye and then turns back around. The horses started acting up and people started to worry and we got straight up yelled at since we were “startling the horses.” Anyways towards the end we are about to get off the horses. My black family gets told just get off the horse. Note: we cannot sue if we get hurt. My brother asked to use the step and he got taken to it. I ask and she says no you are a big girl just get off. So my brother says she can’t sue if she gets hurt so let her use the safest option possible please. She says excuse me?? Then she proceeds to say where did these people come from. Thank god that concluded our very hateful and rude experience. For the price we should’ve been treated with respect but even without it we should’ve still been treated like human beings instead of animals. We were planning on going again the next day but after that never again...
Read moreMy family loves riding and always finds a place to ride while on vacation wherever we are. This time we chose these stables because of the convenience of the location relative to where we were staying. The prices are comparable to other trail rides offered in the area. The lady who helped us was not particularly polite, which was surprising as this is such a tourist heavy area. We are a family of 7 and had booked some trail rides and some children's rides and we also had an infant with us. I had to wait for my husband to come back from walking with one younger child on her horse ride in the driveway, in order to hand the baby over to him to mount my horse for the trail ride. We were a small group, only 2 other people besides my family, and my husband was already in sight heading back to us but the lady was very gruff about it. I didn't have a choice, I was holding my baby and had to wait, and she saw him coming toward us. The lack of customer service in this instance was really surprising. The horses seemed decently taken care of and the trail guide was nice. I was very surprised that the staff didn't check any of our stirrups or adjust any buckles. We were all different sized people, and I know from past experiences that adjustments are often needed. My horse, Loredo, was very sluggish, almost as if he was tired the whole time. The trails were nice, although it would have been more enjoyable if they could incorporate some open field riding to change the scenery here and there. All in all, the customer service could have been a lot better, but it served...
