Working with this company to get a TV and surround sound system installed has been a 5-month ordeal of delayed and/or missing communications. I do not have the complete system that I paid for, nor have I heard from Home AV Pros in the past two weeks.
The actual work done by the technicians is good: I am pleased with the results I did receive and they were pleasant, prompt, and communicative while within my home. My issues lie solely with scheduling and communication.
Our initial installation appointment (12/23) was missed due to weather, which is entirely understandable. I was told (12/22) that they would reach out on Monday (12/26) with another prospect date. That did not happen, and it was not until I prompted later (12/30) that an appointment was rescheduled.
The initial appointment (1/6) went well, with a TV getting installed on wall, an AV receiver in a cabinet nearby, and surround sound speakers around the room. The universal remote would not take it’s programming, and we needed to get an outlet added behind the TV, so Home AV Pros requested we get an electrician to do that and they would return at a later date to program the remote.
The electrical work was finished by 2/1, and I reached out requesting an appointment for the remote programming. This went unanswered until I followed up on 2/13, and an appointment was scheduled for 2/16 at 2pm, with a 90-minute arrival window. By 4:15 pm on 2/16, nobody had showed up, and I alerted Home AV Pros by email that I would no longer be available to let someone in past 4:30 and requested to reschedule if someone would not be here by that time. This received no response, and nobody had showed up by the time I left home at 5 pm. I sent an email 2/20 requesting a rescheduled appointment and Home AV Pros was unaware that nobody had showed up to the appointment. It was rescheduled for 2/24.
At the 2/24 remote programming appointment, the remote (which had been sitting on its charger in my home unused) was discovered to have a non-functioning backlight. I was told they would get a replacement, which was stocked in Minnesota (nearby) and should take “about a week” to arrive. I am comfortable with shipping times being mutable, so did not check in about its status until 3/13, then followed up 3/20 after no response. 3/20 I was told it had shipped with no tracking. I reached out again 4/3 and was told 4/5 they would “check to see today”. That is the last communication I have received from Home AV Pros, despite repeat follow-up emails (4/19 and 4/21). Read moreI had high hopes for this company as they recently completed work for a friend. Unfortunately, things did not go smoothly. Ernst and his team showed up almost an hour late. Apparently their appointment times are windows, but that’s not disclosed anywhere in their communication. I asked them to center the TV on the wall, but Ernst apologized and said that he had centered it on our sofa. When we were discussing moving the mount that had already been installed, he then told me it could not be done as we would not be on studs, even though the directions for the mount said it only had to hit two of the four holes on studs to be secure. When I was inspecting the work, I discovered an extra hole they mistakenly made and did not disclose. They only patched (and patched it poorly) after my husband and I called them out on it. We ended up having them adjust the height of the mount and move the mount for the sound bar, however, neither mount is level and I’m out nearly $200 for a poor job and overall poor experience.
