Bad:
One major issue we encountered was that they served us their special Dhaba Chai (Tea), which had been prepared several hours ago. The server even admitted that it was intended for another party and since it was not consumed by them, they gave it to us. This indicates a lack of freshness and raises concerns about their commitment to serving quality beverages.
The pricing at Dhaba Indian Bistro is on the higher side. Unfortunately, the taste of the food does not justify the elevated prices. This can leave customers feeling disappointed and dissatisfied with the overall value they receive.
We found the service to be subpar. The server forgot to provide us with basic service utensils for the vegetables that were served. Such oversights in service can diminish the dining experience and make customers feel neglected or unattended to.
Despite specifically requesting mild spice levels in the dishes we ordered, we were disappointed to find that all the dishes tasted sweet rather than mildly spiced. While we understand that mild means a decrease in spice level, it does not mean that the food should be excessively sweet. This inconsistency in flavor can be frustrating for customers who have specific preferences.
The restaurant claims to be an Indian Dhaba, but ordering their Dal Makhani exposes a lack of authenticity. This dish, considered a staple at Indian Dhabas, did not meet our expectations in terms of taste, quality, or traditional preparation.
Good:
In response to our complaint about the tea, the restaurant took prompt action and prepared a fresh batch for us. This shows that they are responsive to customer feedback and willing to rectify their mistakes.
The ambiance of Dhaba Indian Bistro was a positive aspect of our experience. The restaurant had a pleasant atmosphere that enhanced the overall dining environment.
In summary, while Dhaba Indian Bistro has some positives such as responsive customer service and a pleasant ambiance, there are several areas that need improvement. These include the freshness and quality of beverages, price justification, attentive service, consistency in spice levels, and the authenticity of their...
Read moreDisappointing Experience at Dhaba Indian Bistro, Middleton, WI
As someone who travels frequently and dines out often, I was eager to try Dhaba Indian Bistro in Middleton, WI, based on its reputation. Unfortunately, my experience was far from impressive.
Ambiance: The only positive aspect of my visit was the ambiance. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere and feels inviting, which sets the stage for a great meal. However, that's where the positives end.
Food: I ordered the Dal Makhni and Tandoori Roti. To say I was disappointed would be an understatement. The Dal Makhni was easily the worst I've ever had at any Indian restaurant. Typically, Dal Makhni is rich and flavorful, with a perfect blend of spices and herbs. Sadly, this version lacked any depth of flavor and tasted bland. I couldn't even bring myself to finish it. For a dish that is usually a highlight in Indian cuisine, this was a major letdown.
Service: The service was another major issue. My server seemed to carry an attitude that was, frankly, uncalled for. I failed to find any courtesy in his manner, which only added to my frustration. A little professionalism and politeness can go a long way, especially when diners expect a certain level of service at any restaurant.
Final Thoughts: While Dhaba Indian Bistro might have a nice ambiance, the quality of the food and the lackluster service were big disappointments. For a place that offers Indian cuisine, they should pay more attention to the authentic flavors that make the dishes memorable. I’m not sure I’ll be returning anytime soon, and I certainly can’t recommend it based on...
Read moreI had my expectations low after having tried a couple of Indian restaurants around this area and them not working out. But this experience was a new low! My boyfriend ordered the Lamb Biriyani, we were surprised by how small the biriyani dish was - it was tinier than the curry bowls I see used in a majority of the Indian restaurants around the US. The rice was pretty undercooked and to be brutally honest, it was just cooked basmati rice mixed with a raw spice curry paste of some sort as an afterthought, and this miniature "delicacy" sinfully classified as a Biriyani was $18.95! I wonder if the lunch size (which costs $12.95) would be served in a raita container! The only saving grace for the whole dinner order was that the meat was at least cooked and not raw or chewy, though still flavorless. I ordered the Garlic Naan and the Kadai Paneer after multiple failed attempts at asking their waiter for their specialities/suggestions for a vegetarian entree. This was the most blandest gravy I have eaten, it was basically sautéed onions and tomatoes with absolutely no spices (or even salt) added on cubes of paneer just before being served. The Basmati rice that came with the entree looked lifeless and dry. The Garlic Naan had generous seasoning of garlic, however the garlic was raw and overpowering on an average slice of bread. I don't know if I have it in me to give them the benefit of doubt and think of this awful experience as a one off thing.
I'm honestly taken aback by the amount of flavor/taste the food lacked and their brazenly overpriced menu for...
