Short of my then girlfriend bringing gyros home while living on the south side of Chicago, I've never chosen Mediterranean food as my go to. Today I felt like something that wasn't what could be found in my area. Walking in I was immediately absolutely blasted in the nostrils with what can only be described as happiness. Which is a welcome surprise after having lost the sense of smell to covid. After not being able to narrow down my selections of what sounded good I simply asked the guy what he thought was good. Instead of suggesting the highest priced item on the menu he said his favorite was the chicken shawarma. I said cool ill do that as the sandwich (they offer sandwich or plate options) for here ( inside dining to go and pick up all offered I have no idea about delivery didn't ask sorry). Then the toppings. So I decided to roll the dice. I told the lady that she could do whatever she wanted I didn't care. A scoop of this a slap of that and a lil orange sauce in a container on the side. Seven bucks and some change (no drink no extras no dessert) and I sat down to a glorious extravaganza of flavor. Cucumber salsa is what im calling it but fresh cucumber pieces cheese tomato onion and the chicken with the pita was absolutely amazing. Devoured the thing in like three minutes. I loved the thing so much I went back and ordered another. After having eaten the first completely forgetting the lil orange sauce I decided to pour a lil on my second one. It was a like spicy mayo that wasn't really spicy but spicy enough to like give it a tiny kick. I honestly didn't think that sandwich could have been improved on. I was wrong. The mayo stuff made the chicken even better. So finally after eating all my scraps that fell out of my pita woth a spoon I decided to go the dessert route because duh. I already ate two chicken shawarma pita sandwiches. Go for it. Baklava. $2.50. Homemade tasting. Damn. I'm coming back...
Read moreI was in the Madison area for only a couple of days (April 21-23) and this location was one that I looked forward to checking out. I ordered my meal online and selected "pay at store", and then forgetting my wallet before arriving since I was a little rushed trying to get food before my event.
I thought I left my wallet in the car and they let me go back to the car, and it was not there. When I came back in to explain what had happened, I said I could retrieve my wallet from the hotel and come back to pay for my food. One of the other customers even offered to cover my meal, and I said thank you but declined since this was my own error. The staff said not to worry, they close at 8:30pm, and graciously allowed me to take my food prior to payment.
When I got back to my hotel room and had my wallet, I called the location right away to let them know I would like to pay for it over the phone and they had no problem doing so.
Even though I don't live in this area, I was blown away by their kindness. If I ever get back to the Madison area, I will for sure make a point to stop here again. Food was phenomenal, service was...
Read moreI can’t have gluten, dairy and all the other yadda yadda crap, so I consistently order food from freska as it accommodates my diet. Today when I picked up my order, it was on a pita like a sandwich when I usually get a salad style meal. I told them the order was incorrect and that I couldn’t have bread. They put lettuce on it and handed it back to me still on a sandwich and I said I cannot have bread. I need this as a salad style meal. They then proceeded to blame me, accused me of placing the order wrong online and made me go to the back of the line to have my order corrected. THEY STILL DID NOT GET MY ORDER CORRECT. I know it’s so annoying when people request dietary changes and then complain, but that’s not the case here. I ordered correctly and they blamed me. There’s not much in my area that accommodates my restrictions so I’ll likely be back but will be extremely careful about how I place the order from now on. Makes me so frustrated they treat their customers badly as the food is decent.
Treat your customers better. Take ownership if you make a mistake. It’s not hard. I didn’t even want anything extra. Just what...
