#1: The other reviews are bogus so disregard them. #2: I made a phone call to the shop and spoke with Gary. Nicest guy on the phone with zero issues answering my questions and measuring a barrel length for me on a firearm I was interested in. I went there 7.19.15 to see and purchase the Ruger 1911 - 4.25" two tone commander model. These two gentleman were beyond helpful and had me and my GF dying laughing the entire time we were there. They answered every question I had plus some and were more than helpful so. They took every initiative to make my GF feel comfortable and joke around with her and even gave here a free T-shirt just for being there and cracking jokes with the guys. They explained the MA gun laws a little bit more than I currently had comprehended them which was more than helpful and guided me in the right direction as far as cartridges and such. #3: After having such a pleasant experience, I personally don't think id go else where to purchase or restock on ammo for my firearm. They have a wide array of firearm choices and even had firearms I didn't think were even allowed in the state of MA. Well done gentleman.
#4: Go there for yourself and make your own conclusions, there is absolutely no reason why people should hate on a company and the employees for doing their job and providing more than adequate customer service in my book.
#5: For the people that think they turned in a fellow gun owner, this is false and the people that wrote or had someone write that review are trying to transfer firearms illegally to individuals with crap on their records. The FBI and ATF do annual shop audits and their paperwork smelled of trouble so action was taken. Don't blame the Family owned shop for doing their job and don't hate on the Federal agencies that regulate who can posses a firearm. Follow the rules, they are not difficult to follow.
From a satisfied customer East Boston, MA.
Again, well done and Ill be back just to chat because it was that good of a time. Even offered me pizza, come on, who does that and gets a negative...
Read moreLet me start off by saying their website is the most unprofessional page I have ever been to. Looks like something I made in high school to pass the class but really wasn't concerned with getting a good grade. The workers there are so condescending that it is sickening. They have the most idiotic approach to customer service. They act like the customers are bothering them. One of the guys working there convinced me that he knew absolutely nothing about guns when he kept forwarding my questions to another employee. On another occasion I was trying to purchase ammo and one of the younger guys said all they had was hunting ammo. I was interested in purchasing it but he just kept walking away. It was the most ridiculous situation I have ever been in while shopping. It is almost like they don't want to make any money so they ignore or be rude to their customers so they will leave. A while back I was conversing with the older guy there about my time in the Army and how I was stationed in Korea. He then started off with an onslaught of some of the most racist comments I have ever heard in my life. So its hard for me to believe that they didn't racially profile that young gentleman that they called the cops on. In conclusion, I dont think the owners or employees of this business have any idea what they are doing. They lack the essential customer service attitudes, knowledge, and business prowess that would help their business stay afloat. I will not be surprised if that store closes within a year. The only thing they have going for them is their location. If someone was to open a gun store down the street and have common sense they would put North Shore Firearms out of business. Now in the instance that someone from North Shore Firearms reads this review I am sorry for all the big words. I am sure you can look them up in a dictionary to help you understand that I was very displeased every time I left the store. All in all I think I am more disappointed in myself for returning there as frequently as I did. ...
Read moreI've had a couple of bad experiences here but MANY good ones over the past three years. It seems that it depends on who you get and how busy it is. I've found the staff to be generally friendly and helpful. Pricing seems fair all around but if you're looking for the deal of a lifetime, this probably isn't where you'll find it. The store is very busy on the weekends so plan to wait around a bit if you have a lot of questions. When it is slower, I have found the staff to be very attentive and willing to spend the time with you even if you aren't looking to buy immediately. Stock seems to be good all-around but ammunition can be scarce just as it is at most shops right now.
The most glaring problem in my opinion is the layout of the store. The counter side is jammed in but there is a huge room next door containing mostly bags, safes, and crate ammo...and no salespeople. The main area is poorly laid out so it is a free-for-all when trying to get counter help during busy times.
I'm not sure where a lot of the bad reviews are coming from. Some seem like they've never even been in the store by their lack of detail. I don't know the full story on the guy they turned in and neither do any of the reviewers here. The only people who know the truth are the employee and the customer involved so lets leave it at that. I've never been asked about my intentions or treated poorly here.
I say go in and decide for yourself. I've been happy with them for the past three years and will continue...
