I bought a house about 2 years ago that had been fully renovated in 2012, including a brand new kitchen. No sooner did we move in then the hinges on my custom cabinets began to come loose. The previous owner of the house left us very good records and so I called Thornberry’s because the cabinets had been purchased there and they had installed them as well. I got a woman on the phone there who told me that she would check the records of the original install and call me back once she knew what cabinets they were, etc. It took almost a week for her to call back which was ok since I told her that it wasn’t a rush. She said that she had found the original work order, had identified the cabinets and that the install was no longer under warrenty and that I would have to pay for any repairs. I agreed and told her that relatives were coming to stay with us in a month and a half and that I’d like to have it done by then. She said that she would have the installer call me to make an appointment... About a week later I get a call that the guys are coming the following Saturday. Well, my job requires me to work almost every Saturday and so I called her to tell her that they can’t just “pick a day to come” and show up... that we would have to coordinate our calendars and work together on a date. She says that she would have the installer call me back again. Once again, this took about another week! The guy calls me, tells me that my cabinets are “very special” (which they are) and gives me an hourly rate to repair them which I agree to. When I tried to make an appointment to have them fixed he tells me that he has to check his guys schedules and that he’d get back to me soon... which he never did! A couple of weeks later I called Thornberry’s back and get a guy on the phone. I ask for the lady and he says she’s not in and that he would have her call me back. We played a little phone tag for a week or so and when I finally got her on the phone, I told her the whole story and said that the installer had never called me back to make an appointment to do the repair. She said she wasn’t sure what had happened and that she would check with the installer and get back to me ASAP. Well... I think that was in June and it is now September and no one ever called me back! My relatives have come and gone... in fact, Summer has come and gone. I am very disappointed because I love to work with local businesses when I can. Needless to say, I will never call Thornberry’s again. I don’t know if the job was too small for them or if their customer service is just really that bad. In either case, I wanted to give you all fair warning! If you could in turn refer me to a good (& reliable) cabinet repair person, I would really...
Read moreThis is a two part review. This is a review for both their appliance store and the renovation business. For the store review I needed to buy a washer/dryer and Greg was very helpful and knowledgeable in store. He knew all the specs off the top of his head and it was very nice to deal with someone who actually knows what they’re talking about and not just trying to sell you anything or to just yes you. For the renovation business review I couldn’t be any happier. We put an addition on our house and in that addition added a bathroom and walk in closet. It was a 3-4 month long job. Mike and his entire team have to be the best contractors to deal with. Mike is extremely honest and tells you everything up front. The price he gave us was the price we paid with the exception of change orders that we changed ourselves. His entire team were all extremely helpful, polite, and amazing workers. Amy who handles the billing and designs was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. The forman Gabe and his crew were excellent workers. They were all extremely skilled, handled all the work great but also they are extremely neat. my entire house was covered with tarps and paper and i felt they treated my house as their own. I couldn't be any happier with Gabe and his entire team and very happy I went with them for my house renovation project. I highly recommend mike and thornberry for any home...
Read moreMiserable staff - miserable service. I made a purchase in march, for a $2500 in-cabinet microwave and a $500 gas cooktop which ultimately got delivered and installed end of April. I bought from them because they were local family owned and had good reviews. Now I question how many of those are real. Upon delivery (about $350 dollars) the cook top didn't fit, so another person came to install who cut my granite, but cut it too wide where the gas cooktop now moves by about 3 inches. Microwave also had an issue as the fan would continue to run and not stop. Ultimately GE came in to service the microwave and I had a replacement (good outcome) but 3 months and multiple phone calls later, the cooktop issue is still unresolved. Each time, I had to initiate the call, and not once did I receive a call back. There's no follow up as they simply don't care about their customer. I've spoke to Steve and Jane repeatedly. Jane's nice on the phone, however Steve is simply rude and likes to cut you off so he doesn't have to hear about the terrible service his company has provided. As of now, I'm promised a call back in two days with a scheduled date - let's see if that happens, however no matter of the outcome my experience with this company stinks and I could never recommend anyone or...
