I've visited the Regal Commonwealth 20 for close to twenty years but have never thought to review the facility until now. I've seen way more movies here than I can ever remember. The theatre is on par with what I expect from any theatre in the Regal cinemas network. Nowadays you buy your ticket in advance from your phone and simply scan your QR code to print your ticket and enter the theatre. So interactions with staff are minimal, which is fine. If everything goes correctly you can enter the theatre, see your movie, and leave without having to make eye contact or speak to any person outside of your party. I appreciate the innovations and more than anything enjoy being able to reserve your seat when buying your ticket - one of those unexplainable things that other countries have done for the longest time but took oh so long for theaters to do here. The Commonwealth 20 offers 3D and IMAX and participates in the Regal club where you can watch unlimited films for something like $20/month. Restrooms are clean as is the rest of the facility. I give it a strong four stars for doing everything right though the experience of a customer is bare bones and lacks any heightened level of service or amenities that would give it any of the pizzazz or memorability to make it a five star experience.

I remember this place being really nice a few years ago but it wasn't this time. My boyfriend got a gift card for $25 for Regal. So we went to see Despicable Me 4 in IMAX, which I know are more expensive than the average ticket. However, he had to pay an extra $25 out of his own pocket for the tickets since the gift card didn't cover all of it. Anyways, once we got there, there was absolutely no one around except for 2 concessions workers at the counter. So he got the tickets and we went to get some food. A personal pizza combo with a personal pizza (that they could only put chicken on for some reason), medium popcorn, and a medium drink and he asked for a large drink on the side. $40. We said nevermind and just got drinks (which was still almost $10). When we got to our theater, it was empty, as in literally no one there at all. There were no previews playing and it was dark. It was very eerie. We went to our seats and stepped over popcorn on the steps that no one cleaned up (this was at 7pm and had another showing after so they weren't closing soon). They started the movie when it was supposed to and it went fine but I noticed water damage on the ceiling tiles and the ceiling seemed slightly bowed but I'm not sure if it was a trick of the eye.

So to set the scene decided to go and see Top Gun: Maverick (in 2D) at 1:15pm on a Monday. The ticket purchase for two was done online and was simple and quick. Arriving at the theater was impressed in the openness of the entrance. But the impressed feeling was quickly gone. The concessions were priced as to be expected, but was dissappinted that the fountain drinks were pespi products only, and also very limited in selections. The other offerings were as expected from an older theater. The service was polite and quick but not above average. When getting to our seats they were comfortable but in the older style with no reclining or what I personally really like which is moveable leg rests. Also another strike againist was the Imax theater next to our theater was showing the newest Thor. The walls were so thin that I could actually here words of dialogue between Thor and Valkarie. Also their were a few times where our movie had multiple scenes impacted by bass from the Imax movie. All in all was good experience but still will not be my default theater (though I do still want to try the Imax theater).

So I'm having to change my review. We had a very horrible experience last sunday 8/27/23. We were watching the blue beetle in theater 2 6:30 showing. As we arrived, we were told that theater 2s AC was not working and If we wanted a refund they would give it to us. My mother, my father, my wife, and I all decided that we would stay and watch the movie. But something that we never expected to happen happened in the theater. A gentleman in front of us got up and was complaining about how hot it was. He left the theater But shortly returned yelling everyone needed to get out because they were fighting and someone had a gun. So of course, everyone started running to the door to try to get out through the back. We did not rush down the stairs. We waited and hid at the top of the stairs with some children and some other people. We were able to leave shortly after through the back door once the door had cleared from the bottle neck of everyone rushing the door.. Luckily no one was injured trying to leave the building. As we exited the back of the building we hear what sounded like gunshots Echoing off the building. We proceeded as far away from the building as we could for safety. Lots of police officers were arriving To the movie theater and everyone was running through the parking lot. We were able to get to our vehicle safely and leave and regroup st a different location. None of this do I believe is the theaters fault, because that would be the fault of the people involved. I have been in this theater before. When something went wrong with the projector and we were offered replacement tickets for anytime to return. The tickets were on sale Online, but that was not the reason we went. We went because we wanted to see that specific movie at that specific theater at that specific time. The discount was just s blessing. I called the theater about getting replacement tickets to come back to see the rest of the movie. And they told me that they would not be giving replacement tickets only a refund due to the fact that they were on sale. And they could not replace our tickets with a $12 ticket because we only paid $4.. So for such a traumatic experience they are not even willing to go above and beyond for any one. They did say they would issue an automatic refund to the people that Got their tickets online, which is a wonderful thing. But that is not gonna purchase another ticket or replace the fact that we went through such a traumatic experience. I don't feel like asking for replacement tickets Is that far of a reach considering they do it all the time for smaller problems. But to be told no because of the price difference seems a little wrong. Regal cinema if you care about your patron. I think you guys need to step up. Some of us love going to the movies and know that the world we live in, This is something that we have to keep in the back of our mind. Something bad Could happen. Not your fault but. Just a small Gesture...

I think I will pass, on coming back to this theater- Gen pop- is not very considerate in this area-

The have "pick your seat" tickets- so you end up surprised by who you are sitting next too with the choices of- sit next to the Coughing, 300lb plus- guy who is spilling over into your chair and talking/Gasping for air through the entire movie...or exchange your ticket for another show- since the theater is mostly packed except the very front row.

Bathrooms where horrible- Vomit in the sink- (who does that!?)

Finally get into the new show- new seats- My seat is broken and leaning so for 3 hours my back is killing me, because I dont want to have to cancel/ask for a refund again!... Near the isle- so Kid running with popcorn trips...because surprise! His mom or dad has not taught him running in the dark is not very smart. Spills popcorn all over the steps and the floor near my feet... Guy with prostate issues and kids throughout THE ENTIRE MOVIE! Is walking back and forth grabbing everyones seat as he walks back and forth to the bathroom over 12 times! NOT KIDDING! So not only could you not focus on the movie- because someone is literally jerking your head and seat back as they walk by- instead of standing upright like a human- but you have random kids unaccompanied by any adult supervision.

And the cherry on top? Some Jerk leaves the movie about 30 min before it ends and yells at the top of his lungs- THE END OF THE MOVIE! Pretty much spoiling it for anyone who was trying to actually enjoy the experience.

The only reason I did not give this theater less stars- is because the manager was very pleasant and accommodating when we requested to switch our seating. If you are a hard working person, who wants to relax, and ENJOY your experience at the movies spending 50 + bucks

Just go to Cine bistro or any higher end movie theater- yea its a little bit more expensive- but less jerks because of the price difference, Seating is larger and you get more space between seating- less worry about who your parked next too-, Pretty much no kids running wild,...

This was the go too theater growing up as a teen, but as an adult this theater is just gross and disgustingly managed. First let's talk about the building quality which hasn't been well kept or updated. It feels old, dirty, and just empty even when it's not empty at all. The bathrooms are always gross and smell like a methane plant. The floors and carpet dirty and covered in food. Especially the theater floors themselves, as well as the chairs with their sticky not so questionable stains. We all know that's not vanilla frosting, but thats definitely layers of well aged soda on the floor mixed with unborn children. They had so much trash last time I was there, they just put full on dumpsters in the theatern and it was so full it was pilling on the floor. Came to watch a film, not chill in a landfill with a movie night. Then there's the snack bar which is also always understaffed, and unkempt even before Covid happened. Food is always spilled everywhere behind the bar, and the eyes of those who are helping are so glazed Krispy Kreme would be jealous. I'm all for partaking in the devils lettuce, but these kids are so smacked out you wonder if you're at a phish concert or a movie cinema. Now if you stayed this long looking for pros, there are none. Sorry but there's now prize at the bottom of this cereal box, or bottom of the popcorn bucket if we're going by seat stains logic. So todays review breakdown will be fast.

Pros: -None(Keep scrolling no participation trophies here)

Cons: -Building Quality(outdated, and unkempt) -Interior(trashy, never clean) -Service(obviously severely unhappy, though I don't blame them but their managing staff) -Atmosphere(the other movie goers and lack luster of this place ruins the experience honestly. Had someone bring two backpacks with a four course dinner inside them, two small children under the ages of 2 who cried every few mintues, as their parents talked on their cell phones the whole time.)

So what's the wrap up? Just avoid this hell hole until they get their act together, which will honestly...
