If I was just rating the staff on professionalism and kindness, I’d be giving 5 stars for sure. ZZAAM has some of the best customer service I’ve encountered in forever. I dealt with 3 different people that worked here in one visit and not one was anything less than amazing. Now onto the food. My son had the ramen. He loved it. He’s a simple guy and just wanted the noodles, broth and chicken. I tasted it and it tasted a lot like what I get from the grocery store for 33 cents a package. He liked it and he’s picky, so I was happy about that. I got the noodle bowl with lots of veggies and teriyaki sauce. The girl who made it was new and in training and she put 3 tiny scoops of sauce on the noodles. The noodles tasted very bland and I did not taste teriyaki at all. I added soy sauce for flavor. The veggies were good and had crispness to them and the noodles were steaming hot so the cold veggies made it the perfect temperature for my liking. I had never had kimchi before and was offered a sample. I loved it! I appreciated the sample and got a side of it as well. It had a little heat to it and was mildly crispy and oh so yummy. The bubble teas were very yummy. I had coconut and my son had the strawberry. I may not get food from there again, but I’ll go back to get those teas! Overall, I thought the price was fair for what we got, but I didn’t love the food. I wish I could say more positive about the food. The staff is...
Read moreAs others have stated, this place is always chronically understaffed. I am curious about this as it seems to be a common complaint. I went yesterday and it was maybe the worst experience I've had at this location. Most of it was not the fault of the employees buuuutttt......
Firstly, they were out of the flour burrito wraps, only had veggie. Okay fine. Then after I've got my order started, I find out they are out of beef. Not ideal, I'll try a different protein. Out of tea flavors and toppings, and things took absolutely forever to come out since there were all of three people working on a Saturday evening.
All of that I can generally overlook, but then I got horrendous food poisoning overnight and this was the only thing I ate yesterday. My partner helpfully told me (after I'd been sick) that he saw the employee at the front check people out, hand over to go bags, and use the register, then come back to making food without changing his glove.
The food here is usually good quality, but the amount of strain that they are putting on employees with understaffing seems to be leading to careless errors. I really wish the owners would step it up. I have seen the establishment reply on multiple reviews apologizing for the long wait times, ingredient shortages, and spotty ingredient quality but not much seems to...
Read moreWent this weekend, horrible experience. I really wanted to put this restaurant in my rotation to have a variety of meals/beverages on occasion, but this visit to the midlothian location was so unpleasant I won't return. I ordered the kimchee fried rice, paying extra to add shrimp. Once I left I realized there was no shrimp, so I return. I was told it would only take few mins to get the shrimp, not so, I waited a long time. During the wait I witnessed a customer returning regarding an issue with her order, the employee was apologetic, offering more items of no charge for the inconvenience. As I continued to wait I wondered how they determine whose time is valuable enough to get that level of customer service, perplexing. I finally get the shrimp, leave again, only to discover the greasy shrimp was fried extra hard, was not edible, and yet someone felt it acceptable to serve. It was obvious the shrimp was forgotten about and stayed in fryer much too long. I went back, returned food, got refund, and suggested to employee that all customers who are inconvenienced should be given same level of great customer service in making things right, not only a select few, value each customer time and money . I do not mind paying for quality food with great service, do...
