Review of Customer Shipping and Pick-Up Procedure – Crate & Barrel @ Short Hills
I absolutely love shopping at Crate & Barrel in Short Hills and visit frequently. However, when I shop online and have items shipped to me, I often run into issues. If my order ships via FedEx, everything arrives perfectly. But when it's shipped with Inland, I never receive my packages. It always ends up at another home. The delivery photo clearly shows the mistake—my home is white, but the package is consistently left at a brown house. Each time, I have to call customer service and request a reshipment via FedEx.
To avoid this hassle, I decided to try their store pick-up service this time. I needed my items for an event next weekend and didn’t want to risk another shipping mishap with Inland.
I placed my order around noon, and by 1:30 PM, I received a notification that my order was ready for pick-up. Since Crate & Barrel is a bit of a drive for me, we headed there around 6 PM. Thirty minutes before arrival, I followed the instructions in the email and notified them that we were on our way. Upon arrival, we parked in the designated customer pick-up area, checked in, and within five minutes, a staff member brought my items directly to the car.
I was really impressed with how smooth and efficient the process was! The only downside? I didn’t have a reason to go inside and browse. Fortunately, my husband waited in the car, which gave me the perfect excuse to pop in and look around anyway!
Overall, the pick-up experience was fast, convenient, and hassle-free—definitely a great alternative to shipping for time-sensitive purchases.

Read moreI will never shop at this location again for anything. I went to the Short Hills location on 11/9/16 to pick up some Finisher’s Formula to clean a table I purchased from C & B. The store was out of stock so an associate placed the order for me and told me approximately when I would receive the item. On Saturday 11/18/16, I decided to call the store for an update on the delivery. I called the store, spoke with an associate and was promised a call back after she had done some research. I never received a call back. I called again and was told by another associate that she would call me back. Later that afternoon, I received a call from a third associate stating that it was Saturday and that she could not reach anyone in shipping and that she would call me back on Monday 11/21/16. I never received that call. Finally I called the store on Tuesday 11/22/16 and reached the associate who had promised to call me back on Monday. I was given a story about how she was not able to reach the warehouse and that she was going to call me back when she had more information. The associate offered to refund my money. Four associates were involved in a $16.95 transaction. The customer service at this store is deplorable. It shouldn’t matter if I had spent $16.95 or $16,095. Read moreWhile we love the products, the customer service staff in this location definitely needs training. Management should make sure the staff is qualified and has on-going trainings. The issue was happened around 11AM on 12/17/23 at Short Hills store. Two of the flicker candles I bought early this year are not working now. I am wondering if there is any warranty. Sara, who is in charge of customer service, told me that the flicker candles I brought were not purchased from Crate & Barrel. Where did such conclusion come from? If you are unable to locate the purchase from my Crate & Barrel credit card and is unable to assist further, please simple state the fact. If your conclusion is based on the lack of Crate & Barrel logo on the products, Crate & Barrel carries so many third party products without Crate & Barrel logo on them. In addition, the cashier clearly showed you the products I brought are still on the Crate & Barrel website. Furthermore, I bought another three items today and no Crate & Barrel logo were showed on them. The way Sara represented Crate & Barrel customer service was unprofessional. The communication was horrible and negatively impact the brand reputation. We purchase those third party products offered by Crate & Barrel because we believe Crate & Barrel has comprehensive vendor due diligence and on-going quality monitoring.
