Save A Lot — Local services in Millcreek Township

I have not been here before. I usually go to Walmart. But since I didn't have a lot of money I chose to try Save A Lot. Everything looked appealing and store was clean. But at checkout, things changed. The cashier looked like he hated his job and he did say anything to me. But I heard him complaining about work to another employee while checking out my groceries. That was a bit irritating. Then when I got home I compared my receipt to previous Walmart receipts and realized I spent more and got less! Which was frustrating since I went to Save A Lot to SAVE money. And now, only two days later, my grapes are already going bad and I opened my bread for first time which is dated for August 5th and it is stale and can't eat it. It's the same brand of Italian bread I always buy that is usually fresh and delicious, but not this time. I am concerned about the rest of my groceries freshness and taste now. All in all, NOT a good shopping experience and I will NOT be back. And for anyone else thinking if giving them a try, I would not waste your time. I assigned four stars to this store ONLY because it has a severely limited (in scope) number of brands. Of course that is in no way any fault of the store; it is a discount grocery and as such it keeps pricing to it's customers low by stocking products which it can make a profit from, as well as pass savings on to it's customers. By nature I rarely assign five stars to any organization for in my mind it smacks of kiss-ass reviewing rather than objective reporting. Sav-a-Lot stores pass on significant savings to their customers. The 12th & Pittsburgh store has some cool people; meaning curteous, friendly, and helpful. I am writing what I have experienced. I have to give this store it's due- it may not have the recognition of the larger more well known stores but it certainly remained the most human during all the Covid restrictions, Nobody here has yelled at anybody for minor infractions or overstepped themselves to employ military style discipline, I feel compelled to state that I have began coming here a lot more often as it is one of the few stores I still feel comfortable going to.
