I went here because I had 3 gift cards that were given to us by my husbands place of employment and wanted to use them up. When I went to the check out the cashier (not so politely) insisted that all of my gift cards were blank with no money on them. I was mortified because I had a long line of people behind me and I had to have her void my entire order. Luckily I insisted that she give me the gift cards back so that my husband could take them back to work and inform his company because they had given out hundreds of them to the employees for Christmas...and it's a good thing I made her give them back because when I got home I realized there was a number on the back of them to call and check the balance and when I did, every one of them were fine and had the correct balance on them! Not sure if the cashier didn't know what she was doing or if she she just told me they were blank in order to keep them for herself. I called customer service to complain because it was a humiliating experience that never should have happened in the first place and the response from customer service was "What exactly do you expect me to do about that? Maybe next time you should check your gift cards at the customer service desk before you bother shopping and going through the line"...as if it was my fault and I did something wrong!!! I am a very calm and easygoing person but this experience and the way it was dealt with makes me furious! I will definitely NOT shop...
Read moreUPDATE: After yesterday's experience I took the time to inquire further & was surprised to learn ((after 3 transferred calls & a twenty minute hold time - for the representative to converse with their supervisor)) that it is Giant Eagle CORPORATE policy to NOT inform customers of system disruptions or outages prior to checking out an order. This to me is worthy of taking my business elsewhere. How disrespectful of the value of a person's time & how embarrassing it must be for individuals to be taken aback by the intentional underhandedness of such policies!!! 0 stars & 0 of my hard earned dollars moving forward.
Today was a solid one star experience. I witnessed a mother painstakingly shop with a very busy child just to be told after her groceries were bagged that the ebt was down statewide and they were "not allowed" to post a sign or indicate the system issues until completing checkout. She was exhausted and upset and met with dumb founded blank stares and fumbled half hearted apologies. Appalling if you ask me. She left her bags and most likely left feeling it didn't matter to anyone else. I will not be returning until I get a clarity on why this was allowed to happen. Is this "not allowed" at any Giant Eagle store or just this...
Read moreMy go-to grocery store, for everything from fresh produce, excellent quality of meats, & even pharmacy & prescriptions! I LOVE the staff here, all employees are friendly & knowledgeable, going above & beyond to help me in any way they can! Meghan is my favorite employee, because literally every time I'm shopping she's there working hard! She knows all areas of this store VERY well, can answer all questions about location of products as well as the products themselves! She's so friendly & helpful, & extremely hard working! I how she receives acknowledgement from Giant Eagle on a job WELL DONE!! In addition to Meghan, most all other employees here are friendly & helpful! There is one lady who usually works head of self check out- (I don't know her name, but she is older & has brown hair just above shoulder length, wears glasses) She is always scowling, unhappy looking- doesn't smile or say hello, & when I ask for a brown bag she lectures me on how I'm not supposed to be allowed to have ONE BROWN BAG, how she'll give me a brown bag this one time but never again... I honestly do not know how she's still employed here, doesn't staff see this behavior from her? Overall, I'm so thankful for this particular...
