Bob Evans — Restaurant in Millcreek Township

Normally I would give a much higher rating for BE, because my husband and I have generally always left happy with tummys full and satisfied. But lately, I feel as if there needs to be a lot of improvement in this establishment. My husband and I visited on 5/18 and our visit was much less accomodating than usual. Aside from my cold brew being not as good as it usually is, my fried chicken being slightly overcooked, and my husbands bacon being hard to chew like rubber.. the food was generally okay. It was edible. However.. the service.. not so much. First, we had a very young gentleman as a waiter, maybe late teens, early 20s. He seemed very eager to get our order taken or get whatever we needed, then quickly run away from the table. All just to go back to chit chat hour with a group of about 5 employees just standing in a circle.. talking.. goofing off. We could hear majority of their conversation, it was literally nothing work related. I was getting more increasingly upset, as while we waited for biscuits that never got brought out.. or our check that never came.. there were also 2 tables directly behind and next to us that had yet to be cleaned off. By the time we were DONE eating and had to go to the counter to interupt chit chat hour to get our check and pay.. I happened to notice 2 MORE tables that needed cleaning. So.. ALL those employees just standing around having social hour, while a whole restaurant sits with people to be waited on, and tables to be bussed. Its not normally like this when we go. But I do feel like it must depend a lot on when you go, who is working, things like that.. which is sad. It should be good every time around, not just sometimes.

EDIT JULY 17, 2024.. I dont think my husband and I will be back after this visit today. We gave this location another try, as we've been craving BE lately.. and my husband works nearby. So.. we went to the west side early to get a bite before his shift. It of course started when we first walked in, (the front doors and windows to the restaurant are very dirty with fingerprints and grime) the place was near empty and it took a minute before anyone cared to notice we were even standing there at the host stand to be seated. As we're walking through, we notice a couple tables and some chairs that needed wiped down, and the floors desperately needed to be swept. Upon looking through our menus, they were disgustingly sticky and filthy with dirt and crusted.. whatever it was. We decided since we were already there and sat down, to stay and order. We got notified by our server she had JUST came on shift, and she wasn't 100% sure, but they may be out of the soda my husband asked for. So he gave her a second option in case. We got our drinks, ordered our food.. all of which came out quick enough. My chicken was a bit over cooked, my husbands bacon was a bit over done. But it was good none the less. I was a bit disappointed the waitress never attempted to fill our drinks the couple times she did return to the table, which remained empty majority of the meal. We didn't bother asking for refills since we were done with our meals anyway. Refills would have been pointless. Once she asked if we would like desert and started clearing the table, we told her we were done and she insisted she would be back with the check. So we waited. And waited. And waited... again, my husband had to be at work, so we were up against the clock. While we sat at a near empty table, waiting.. we witnessed yet ANOTHER chit chat hour up behind the counter. Our waitress standing there eating, another scrolling on her phone, a couple others chatting about something and high-fiving each other.. clearly having one enjoyable time. All while we waited. FINALLY, my husband and I had enough and went to the counter and stood there until one of the many girls there acknowledged us. She asked how everything was and asked us if we had our check. No. No we don't. Because while all of you are having your super fun social hour over here, we've been sitting over there waiting...

My father and I decided to stop in and have dinner here the other day, mind you we haven’t had Bob Evan’s in a while. We stopped in around 3:30, hardly any customers were there. When we walked in we waited at the host stand standing there before anyone even noticed us. The host was leaning on the counter where you pay on her phone. A server walks by telling us she will be right with us and only then did the host realize we were there. As we are going to be sat my father and I noticed dirty tables in the other sections that had yet to be cleared off. As we are waiting for our food we overheard one of the waitresses ask a little old lady if she could cash her out so she could go home for the day. That’s completely uncalled for. Once we got our food instantly we could tell it was rushed. The French fries were disgusting tasting like the oil hadn’t been changed at all. The whole time my father and I ate we could hear every word from the servers in the kitchen talking about making food for themselves and goofing off the whole shift. This place truly needs better management and staff training. Reading other people’s reviews this seems to be a common issue at this location, We will...

OK food, but it was my worst experience at a Bob Evan's. The waitress was very short despite their only being a handful of people in the restaurant (this was around 8AM before the breakfast rush). Wanted to look over the menu a bit but waitress returned nearly every minute to ask if I was ready to order yet.

Finally ordered breakfast. It arrived quickly but was dumped on the table and the woman ran away so fast. She did bring refills fairly promptly. I am pretty sure my breakfast was supposed to come with biscuits but I did not receive them. It also said I was only supposed to get 2 sausage links and I got 4. I don't know if that was a substitution made but I did not ask for it.

Waitress did not bother to return to check-in on how things were and slipped the receipt onto the table while going off to another table without saying so much as a word to me. After which point I wanted another drink or a glass of water but she did not come back in my direction.

Am a fairly regular at Presque Isle now but I will think twice before going to this Bob Evan's again. The food was OK but the free hotel breakfast I received with my stay at Comfort Inn was...
