I had the worst experience of my life with one of the biggest, if not biggest purchase, at the Milltown Home Depot.
I researched and waited until the time was right to order all new appliances for my kitchen. I finally purchased and without compromises ALL top of the line Samsung products. My purchase was on June 30, 2017. To date, ONLY my Stove and Convection Microwave were successfully delivered - The installers deceived me. They installed my stove and microwave and removed my appliances knowing full well that the remaining items were so damaged that they would not be accepted. They didn't even bring them into my home.
After 3 attempts they have still not been able to provide me with products that are not significantly damaged. That is also 3 days I have had to take off of work - and yes, I spoke to lots of representatives throughout all of this, but no one is capable of ensuring what they say happens - AND it HASN'T. I have YET to be able to use my appliances!!! AND if you think this is the worst of everything, it is NOT!!! It does get worse and it should be UNACCEPTABLE!
When they installed my stove, the Installers made the decision to not remove my old stove's anti-tip device on the left of the wall and instead, install the new anti-tip device on on the right side. WELL, they screwed right into my waterline!!! It was not discovered until late that night AND at that point, it FLOODED my finished basement. All water had to be shut off in my home, Disaster restoration had to come to my home to re-mediate the water damage, emergency plumbing services, assessors, etc. When I called Home Depot, I was told they filed a claim and to go through MY homeowners for this!!! No one, no one that I have spent hours speaking to has followed through with anything. I have not yet received the remaining two appliance and NOT a representative of HOME DEPOT or their representatives have been helpful nor is anyone truly trying to help me.
As a long-time customer of Home Depot and primarily the Milltown Store - this is not only by far my worst experience with them - it is my worst buying experience ever. I understand things go wrong - BUT it is unacceptable and it has to be unacceptable for not one person to actually do something to help the customer. I have to keep reminding myself that I am the customer, but I have not been treated as such.
*Important Update - I had to file a claim with my homeowners insurance. The third party vendor that delivered my items (not directly affiliated with Home Depot, but selected/contracted by Home Depot to deliver and properly install the items they sell) contested the claim and tried to state that they were never at my house and didn't know who was. I had to prove through the attorneys that the delivery people were indeed them. They do not give you copies of the delivery receipts, but thankfully, I at least took an image of the back page because I was returning damaged items. The back page is consistent with the other images I took of later failed deliveries. I also started to take pictures of the delivery trucks and people. Never thought I would have to, but in order to prove that they did indeed deliver, I am happy I did. SO my advice even if you want to give the benefit of the doubt, is to protect yourself and take images of the delivery people installing, the truck, and the invoices that you sign, but they do not give you a copy of.
Sad that Home Depot contracts with the delivery and installers, but washes their hands of any thing that transpires between you and them. You were Home Depot's customer by choice, but then Home Depot dumps you on someone they select for their customers, but the customer is...
Read moreWe had a very, very bad experience with HomeDepot when we used them to remodel our Kitchen in 2022/23 with KraftMaid cabinets. This was a large project with an HomeDepot specialist doing the complete design and they botched up so badly. Despite paying for a HomeDepot professional to come home and take the measurements, we got multiple cabinets of the wrong size on different wall sections. And that was just the beginning of this nightmare with HomeDepot. There were multiple issues from bad quality products (cracks, paint peeling off cabinets, patchwork, drawers not closing), to incorrect products & incorrect replacements, and delays & more delays in getting the items (each replacement takes 4 weeks & some of the replacements were worse than the original). All this meant a 2-month project got stretched to 5 months and we had to pay additional to the contractor because of the delayed timeline and inconvenience. HomeDepot personnel had casually asked on many instances if my contractor can deliver the incorrect cabinets from my home to their store, which is absolutely ridiculous; HD had sent the wrong items and they should arrange for the items to be picked up. My contractor at one point had had enough of HomeDepot's lack of professionalism and the extended delays that he wanted to quit - we had shot well over our original agreed timeline per his contract, anyway. We had to amend his contract and pay for the extra time he had to put in. I have seen many great experiences from friends and neighbors who have used Lowes and they were asked to simply keep the bad cabinets when they had a bad item. But not HomeDepot. In fact, it was a struggle to get HomeDepot to come home and pick up our incorrect cabinets. Those items were simply sitting in our kitchen for two months and were never picked up despite us asking HomeDepot to schedule a pickup. We then asked our contractor to take those items away as we had no space left in the house. Then suddenly near the end of March 2023, HomeDepot said they going to charge us double - i.e., for both the incorrect cabinets and the replacements - unless the incorrect items were returned and told us we had only a day to return. We had to scramble and have our contractor bring back those items he had taken away - thankfully he did not trash them. Thank you HomeDepot for making our lives miserable. This is what we get for paying a premium price. My wife had to leave her job at our public school as she was unable to take the stress and the anxiety HomeDepot put us through with all the above issues and by making us live in a mess, without a kitchen for five months. This seriously has taken a toll on the entire family and we will never recommend HomeDepot or...
