2025 Update
So I went into this WaWa location on Ryders Lane in East Brunswick New Jersey and again I was given less than adequate service because of a certain counter person by the name of Julie who happened to be working the late shift. I ordered a specialty drink from the menu and I greeted her with a smile and said happy new year. Where then she gave me a cold stare and said nothing. I then said you don’t look very happy today and she’s like I’m fine in a very robotic and absolutely rude response. I’m not even sure why she reacted to me since I was being so nice. The only thing I could think of is my review that I did of the store back in 2023. Perhaps she is friends with the employees I wrote about. See review below on that. All the while I was in the store I got mean stares by her as she was making my hot chocolate drink. I went to pay for everything that I got, and Julie walked over to the cashier and said something off. Even though I wasn’t an earshot of it, it seemed that it was directed towards me due to her body language and loathing stares from Julie. When I asked the cashier if there was a problem, she replied that Julie was having mental cramps and that she gets moody. I thought that was a really weird and personal response and also a lie to cover Julie’s customer service behavior towards me. So far most of the staff that I’ve encountered seems very toxic in their demeanor when handling customers and I am not the only one to complaint about them. I have now seen firsthand that I have not been treated with respect. I don’t go to this location all the time unless I don’t have time to go to a different location and it’s close by. All I can say is it’s the new year and they already have minus one star for me 😡🤬 ………………………………………………. 😡 I had a most terrible experience @ store no.#914 on 426 Ryders Ln. E.,Brunswick, NJ on 12/29/2023 @ 9:44pm. A manager named Dakota was extremely belligerent and rude. I had a previous run-in with him before because of his terrible customer service attitude. In the store Dakota manages to look up at me condescendingly and converse with another cashier on his headset about me. I went over to the cashier to ask if in fact Dakota said something about me and the cashier confirmed that he was talking about me in a misinformed way. After I paid for my drink, and proceeded to wait by the deli counter until it was done, I expressed my ill opinion of how unprofessional Dakota was to another counter person and that I would be putting a call into corporate. Dakota overheard that and asked if I was talking about him. His ego must of been bruised because he wanted me to leave the store. He had the cashier refund my money on the drink I paid for. I made sure he knew that I was definitely going to let corporate know about him. It’s truly not often that I go out of my way to write someone off and get someone noticed in a bad light, but this behavior was uncalled for. Dakota’s demeanor speaks volumes of how much needed training he still desperately needs to work on because leading by example is NOT his strong point. There’s another manager there by the name of Kim as well and she has a terrible disposition as well. I did end up calling corporate, and even the general manager said to me that she’s not very liked, but she’s been there a long time and she runs hot and cold. I thought that answer from a general manager was completely odd, considering that she was talking about her own employee but that also is very telling. There are quite a few people that have got into arguments with Dakota and Kim and I’m clearly not the only one who feels this way and sadly not the last. They say the customer is always right and that’s not always true in every case, but in this case it is. As far as calling corporate, they said that they would reprimand him but there was no follow up and no apology on Dakota’s side. I’m all for going the extra mile for great service but you also have to shed light on experiences that are not...
Read moreStopped at Wawa today, grabbed an electrolyte drink, and politely asked for a separate cup of ice. As I was walking out, I even smiled at the girl sweeping Katie just to be respectful. A few minutes later, I’m being approached by four cop cars… over a 50 cent cup of ice.
Let that sink in.
Instead of just saying something like a normal adult, Katie decided to call the police. Over ice. Not theft. Not violence. ICE.
Even the officer looked confused told me it used to be free and that it honestly wasn’t a big deal. But Katie was proudly standing there like she did something heroic. In reality, all she did was waste people’s time, embarrass herself, and show just how unqualified she is to interact with actual human beings. No communication, no common sense, no grace.
Katie, if this is how you find purpose in your day calling the cops over a paper cup and frozen water you really need to reflect on your life. You work at Wawa, sweeping floors, and somehow thought this was your power moment?
I hope you felt important for that brief second, because all you really did was show everyone around you how small minded and petty you are.
To management: if this is who you choose to represent your store, don’t be surprised when people stop coming back. I sure won’t. And I’ll make sure no one I know does either.
AND NEXT TIME, IF IT’S REALLY SUCH A BIG DEAL, MAYBE PUT UP A CLEAR SIGN LETTING PEOPLE KNOW THAT ICE ISN’T FREE ANYMORE. BETTER YET—HIRE PEOPLE WHO CAN POLITELY COMMUNICATE POLICY CHANGES INSTEAD OF JUMPING STRAIGHT TO CALLING THE POLICE. A SIMPLE, RESPECTFUL REMINDER WOULD’VE GONE A LONG WAY.
Katie next time, I’ll bring two quarters just to save you from having another meltdown. Maybe I’ll tape it to the broom you clean floors with. Seems...
Read moreI have been working over night in the area for a while now. Every time I come to Wawa to grab an energy drink or something Katie is such a sweet person. The customer service is great gives me details about different deals they have going on in the store I might be interested in and did not know about. In all honesty if it wasn’t for Katie’s excellent performance at work I would not visit the store as often as I do. Some nights I might be in a bad mood but Katie always has a smile on her face and makes my night when I come in. I’m sure if more customers left reviews they would give great reviews also. Most of the times I’m in the store she is making someone laugh or smile, so it confused me when I went to look up Wawa and saw bad reviews about the store and Katie in particular. Really my mind is blown and cant and refuse to believe the things I’ve read because they are so far away from any experiences I’ve had at the store. As I said I’ve been coming here over night few months now, always pleasant. I’ve wanted to leave her a great review for a while just never really got around to it and it sucks because that’s how most of society is. Most people don’t rush to leave good reviews. But for what it’s worth and I do hope it’s worth something I think Katie is an amazing person and I’m glad she’s there. Look forward to seeing...
