I wasn't aware there was a Vietnamese restaurant in close proximity to me. Google Maps made me aware of Pho & Baguette. I stopped by on a Friday night after, I assumed, the dinner rush. There were only two couples in the place having dinner. This was the second time visiting. I was there earlier in the week, the service was so slow I actually walked out. The place was busy but there were four empty tables that hadn't been cleaned off yet. I sat at a table that was near the counter. I had to get my menu from the counter person but they didn't come to take my order for the 15 minutes I waited. They also didn't clean off the tables. The person behind the counter was on their cellphone. I was not impressed and walked out determined to give them another chance when I had time to wait. I ordered the Fried Chicken Dumplings as my appetizer. I have enjoyed Dumplings since I lived in Japan decades ago. This was the first time I didn't enjoy Fried Dumplings. The coating was thicker than any Dumplings I've ever had, it was hard like fried bread dough. The chicken filling had no taste and little texture. It was akin to eating a badly done miniature empanada. I don't recommend these if you're accustomed to the thin crisp outer crust on Japanese and Chinese Fried Dumplings. The large Brisket Pho was delicious. It was better than the other New Jersey Pho restaurants that I've tried. I am no expert on Pho. I won't pretend to be an expert, I do know what I like. I'll be back to Pho & Baguette. I want to check their other menu items.

Ordered from this restaurant through Uber Eats, and it arrived nice and hot. The portion size for the pho and coffee were good, however the fried calamari was only 8 pieces for $10. I know seafood is expensive but that is a little too much for me. The amount of pho soup was more than enough for me, I had leftovers! The chicken pho was tasty. It is on the sweet side if you prefer that kind of broth. I also thought it was a bit too salty for my personal preference. The chicken is not the traditional shredded/boiled chicken— it’s grilled chicken (which I think should be noted in English on the menu). The grilled chicken was very good and had that great smoky flavor, but it’s not what I’m used to when I get chicken pho. Coffee was very creamy/thick, so no complaints there. Calamari was crispy, just a little overpriced imo.

12/18/23 update: Recently I have been having some issues with this restaurant. I always give a place more than three chances to redeem themselves (because things happen) after an issue but unfortunately it just kept getting worse. First off people are always friendly here and it’s always cleaned up never had an issue with that. BUT this Saturday was the last straw. My boyfriend and I chose to eat in at this restaurant, it started off nice. We gave our orders in (two regular pho chicken) and my boyfriend asked if he can get the “beef strips” in his pho in replace of chicken. The waitress said yes no problem, a few mins later we were given shrimp spring rolls. I told the waitress we did not order this and she replies “are you sure?” I said yes we only asked for two soups “she apologized for the mistake and took it back. As she is explaining that we did not order the spring roll dish to the cooks their response was cursing in Spanish not realizing we are Hispanic. The cook not only spoke disrespectful towards us (we were the only two there) he thought it was a good idea to continue to curse us in Spanish about five more minutes. I let it go, as a cook we get upset I get it. Finally got our soup and started eating till I noticed my boyfriend had no beef strips in his pho (we searched for it) so i asked the waitress to come over and told her he didn’t get beef strips like he asked. First she told us “oh you ordered beef strips?” Then as my boyfriend showed his pho to her she said “oh yeah you have beef strips in there, it’s just white beef strips” I told her what are white beef strips I never heard of that, she said it’s what they traditionally use in the pho. To top it off the same shrimp spring rolls we told her wasn’t what we ordered, she gave to a couple who sat down 25 mins after she tried to give to us. Yes i heard them order that dish but she brought it out a couple mins (less than 5 mins) after they asked for it which is odd since they claim to make the “fresh to order” usually take a little longer than that since I have ordered just that alone a couple times.

Now I kept to my self to avoid any problems and So I let the whole soup issue go. My boyfriend ate the soup he was given, after we got home he got sick which isn’t normal for him. So I took it upon my self to call Edison Vietnamese restaurant (I’m close with one of the women who works there) to ask what is a traditional beef strip pho look like and she said they are “dark strips of meat” so I decided to search and come to find out. They fed my boyfriend tripe strips! Don’t know what that is? It’s cow stomach lining, not everyone’s stomach can handle tripe and clearly he couldn’t. I am very upset with this place for misinforming us as we trusted them. Unfortunately we will not be giving this place our business any more, if you decide to take the risk and go there look up the food before you eat what is given to you. DO NOT take their word for it.

1 year ago: This place is worth a visit, my new spot to get away and come to!. They’re clean, Very friendly, the food was amazing I choose the regular size pho chicken soup very clean...

Horrible logistics and poor service. I drove almost 30 minutes to try this new place. First, they acknowledged everyone else around me but me. I had to approach them about my order. I should have left at that point. I waited 1 hour and 10 minutes IN THE RESTAURANT for an order placed online in the store. Walking in, there was a line at the door. People were standing because they didn't know they could take a table and have someone take their order. For people who wanted to place takeout orders, it wasn't clear. After standing at the counter without any acknowledgment, I decided to place an online order using the QR code they had at the register. It turns out they weren't making the orders in the order they arrived. Multiple patrons came at least 40 minutes after me and placed their orders in person and received their food promptly.

After waiting an hour, I asked about my 3 item order and was told 5-10 mins. It still wasn't ready. I asked her if they forgot about my order but she kept saying it's coming right now. They made one part of it about 10 minutes before the rest of it came out, so it was just sitting there getting cold. After that long wait, wasting my time, I asked about a discount since I was waiting for so long... and that's when their lack of understanding kicked in. I expressed to them that people came after me and received their food first and she tried to convince me that they placed their orders online, but I watched them place their order in the store 40 minutes after I had already placed mine.

They brought out each table's food one dish at a time! I presume because they were not prepared at the same time.

I understand they are extremely busy and they're figuring things out, which is why I was very patient, but when you have customers waiting over an hour inside the establishment that's a problem, especially when they are not proactive in asking how you are doing or update you about your order. I should not have had to ask for a discount, which by the way I did not get, they should have graciously offered to discount the meal. I won't be back and I will caution anyone I know that they're probably better off not expecting their food in any reasonable amount of time.

After driving almost 30 minutes back home I realized they got my order wrong. I requested no cilantro and what did I find in the seafood pho? You guessed it, cilantro. It was not pleasant. The only seafood that I recognized was the shrimp and imitation crab meat. No idea what the other stuff was. The fish balls and spring rolls were very greasy. After waiting over an hour one would think they would make sure the food order was correct and of a higher quality. It definitely was not worth the trip nor the cost. I...

Food is fair and decent as you'd expect but most importantly the service was outstanding. Our family travels and eats out a lot across the tri-state area. The lack of quality service in NJ always sticks out like a sore thumb to me whenever we return home from out-of-state trips, especially as I get older. It is the case in general and even more pronounced in the younger staff so that I stopped expecting the most basic courtesy a long time ago. But to my complete surprise yesterday (7/26/25 @ 6 ish) when we walked in here to dine in for dinner with the family, we were immediately greeted by this 17 -year old young adult in a friendly tone (forgot to get her name!). She came to our table and right away found a way to connect and sparked a conversation. I'm not even a people person and somehow she managed to get me engaged with her personable down-to-earth vibe. She came across genuinely helpful and passionate about everything she does. Checked in to make sure we have everything we needed, but not in a perfunctory or forced manner. Although there was only a few tables occupied at the time, she was the only one working the dining and handling pick-ups and walk-in orders. I've seen fully grown adults poorly handling even just one table too often in my dining experiences. So the way she alone took care of the entire joint calmly and gracefully just blew me away. She addressed everyone with the same respect and friendliness. I'll definitely dine in here more often as long as this young lady works here. Thank you!

Oh, the food is also decent. I like their soup broth is light and clean compared to some other places with heavier/oily broth. The portion is also reasonable. One thing for me is the noodle that's a tad bit overcooked but it's not...
