Jimmy's is what used to be Edgies back in the day. Since those days it has been taken over by new management. The space is largely the same with the main differences being the selection of pool tables which now include varying sizes from bar size to more professional larger sizes. They've also remodeled the bar and counter area. In general, I feel it looks more managed than during its Edgies days. I came out here to shoot some pool with a friend who was visiting from India. When we used to work together, who would take time at the end of the day to shoot a little bit of pool. Today, we had chosen Jimmy's because all we wanted was the shoot pool and to have some drinks. Originally, my friend had thrown out heading over to Dave& Buster's at the Great Mall, but I talked him out of it expressing the idea that the pool tables at Dave& Buster's are limited. So we would not be guaranteed a table, and that the drinks at Jimmy's are more likely to be less. I believe these accounts were both true. When we got to Jimmy's, there were tables available. We ordered a couple glasses of beer and once we ran low I went back to get another round but found that getting a picture was a much more economical way to do it. I believe a glass is around $7 and a pitcher is around 22. So if you've got the capacity for the drink, just start with the pitcher. As for the pool tables, it looked as though the entire space was outfitted with diamond brand tables. Diamond being one of the premier pool table providers in the industry at the moment and are often seen in pro tournaments. The condition the table was in perfectly good shape. By that I don't mean it was perfect, but it didn't have any significant issues that pool enthusiasts should have to worry about. Their selection of cues were okay. The shafts were a bit beat up and bit discolored and a bit sticky, but performed perfectly fine. Most notably, the heads of the cues were in good shape. It also seemed that most of their cues were around 19 oz in weight. The one part that confuses me about the table was that the racking triangle was sort of built into the table and that the table had a space to store it. It's been so long that I'm used to fishing for and searching for the triangle somewhere underneath the pool table where you just kind of toss it when you're not doing an active Rack. The spacing of the tables are closer together than I prefer. Which means that you will still run into your neighbor or have to mind the area around you before you shoot and while others are shooting. Ideally, this should never be the case, but I recognize what they were probably trying to do working with their space. It's not that it's small here, but it is closer than I prefer. The help is friendly and I know the space participates in leagues and other extraneous events related to billiards. I don't shoot out very often anymore, largely because my good friend now has his own pool room in his house, so I have little need to shoot at public pool halls anymore. However, if I ever do have desire to shoot with someone who is not in my circle of friends and shooting at my buddy's pool room, I would have no qualms about coming to Jimmy's for a round and a...
Read moreUPDATE: WOW, I've just seen the other reviews about this how rude this woman is on Yelp. Guess I wasn't the only one. PLEASE STOP RUINING OTHER PEOPLE'S EXPERIENCE AND FUN.
Rude lady at the front desk ruined my friend’s and I’s experience. We’re repeating customers that were looking to have casual time. We got a good amount of drinks and food even with only a party of 3 + gave good tip to keep us busy while we waited for close to an hour. After we were done waiting we played for an hour. When we came to the front to pay and check out. The lady became insanely rude with manipulative and guilt tripping comments about how long we decided to play for. Treated us like trash because we didn’t play longer for them to charge us more? Hello? Am I contracted or obligated to play a certain time if I decide to come here?
We can tell with the way she was so naturally rude that this isn’t probably her first time guilt tripping customers about not playing longer.
P.S. She gave us a table with half empty beers still on the table with the balls scattered everywhere. She then demanded that we bring the balls to her with a horrible tone. Left us to service our own table and clean up their customer’s trash then treated us horribly for not playing...
Read moreThis place has the potential to be great but it just feels like they only cater to certain people. We ordered food which was surprisingly really good and we tried to tip the cook since it look like she was the only one working back there but she let us know she wasn't allowed to accept tips which is a shame. The food wasn't the issue though. The issue I had was with the customer experience. First, it's disappointing to be charged by the hour, when you spend a majority of the time waiting for service at the counter. Next, my group paid for credits on the jukebox. Music had already been playing prior to us hopping on but when our music came on the volume was lowered to where we couldn't even hear it over the noise of everyone playing around us. We asked the older lady at the front desk if she can turn it up for us but she rudely brushed us off and never adjusted the volume for us but when another party's song came on the volume was raised all of a sudden. This feeling of discrimination ultimately caused us to leave earlier...
