Well! This restaurant is not for everyone- but definitely awesome for people who love this particular thick and crispy style dosa- the Bangalore style dosa. If you've grown up eating this style, read no more, go try everything from this place, you won't regret it. It's authentic to an extent that my 3 stars would make some of their fans pretty sad. Also, maybe you're not too conscious about oil/ butter like me - you will LOVE it. So go try them out :)
Anyway, here I am with my honest thoughts- They have a pre order system and we ordered a takeout for Saturday afternoon and the pickup experience was pretty easy - absolutely no wait. The dosa was pretty tasty and crispy. Loved the potato masala as well. But, there were a few things which put us off - it was too buttery and when I say too much, I felt like it was almost shallow fried. Me and my partner couldn't finish 1 dosa each coz it was too heavy for us. Also, the sambar was not even mildly hot- and too less in quantity (there are two little boxes in the takeout box, one had chutney and the other had sambar. I would expect at least a 4 ounce container of sambar. Also, probably we were the unlucky ones that one side of one of the dosas was almost burnt.
This restaurant today is run end to end by a couple. I wish I could support them better. Recently, they've started serving more items like idli recently. They sell khara buns as well - we couldn't try it. They were super clean and added 1 fresh napkin in each box as well.
Parking is easy and they have a good number of outdoor seating available outside the...
Read morePossibly the best Dosa place in California! The place, which I understand was a food truck in San Ramon is now a cafe in Milpitas. It is operated by the owner couple one of whom manages the kitchen and the other the counter. It is open only on Saturdays and Sundays currently and one has to pre-order online. A few table and chairs are available outside the cafe for those who want to have the delicious dosas on the site. Each dosa and its accompaniments are served in a box lined with foil which helps to retain its warmth and crispness even after one hour. One masala dosa is good enough to meet meet ones hunger pangs and you may consider a second one if you have a good appetite. The dosas are thick, thick, rich brown in colour and superbly yummy in taste. The potato stuffing in the masala dosa is delicious and so was the chutney. The other accompaniment, sambhar was just about Ok. I must tell you that I never expected the dosas to be so crispy and tasty so much so that I was reminded of some of the best dosas that I have had in Bengaluru or elsewhere in India. Some freshly baked spicy buns are also available at the place, which don't require pre-ordering so don't forget to buy them if available. I understand that the owners are planning to scale up the menu and the number of days in the week when it will remain open.
So, if you are in the Bay Area and have a craving for the best Bengaluru dosas, look up the place online and place your order. Trust me, you will not be disappointed!

Read moreOmg! What an amazing Dosa! I had no idea about this special Bangalore style Dosa, which is special since it’s crisp from the outside while super soft from the inside. This place is super hygienic and super clean, with amazingly fresh ingredients being used. How do I know - well if you’re a foodie, that’s easy to figure out and also the after taste. It’s a small family owned business and while they’re trying to scale and keep pace with the growing popularity and demand, they are very strict about their quality. In no rush to forego the rich quality for catering to a larger number. Obviously, that means a little inconvenience for you to order ahead of time (by Thr 7pm) to get your Dosa on Saturday. Yeah - that’s the only one day! But you would want to wait just for their great taste and quality. It’s a good truck and they are in during Saturday’s Farmer market, with some seating available around the area. They do have some very stringent rules around the order timing and pickup schedules, but that’s all to ensure great service to who has pre ordered. Sounds very inconvenient but you realize that quickly. I wish them good luck and can’t wait to see them expand and scale so we all get to taste their awesome dosas more frequently. Also, they have just 3 variants of the dosa (plain, masala and cheese) but they are all amazing. You can’t go wrong with either. Sambhar and Coconut chutneys are complementary and amazing too. All in all, the best Dosa you could have in the Bay Area. Just try it and you’ll know what...
