Traveled approximately 3.5 hours to get here. By the time we arrived & got settled in our room (around 6:30-7:00 p.m.), we needed to eat dinner so we went to the hotel's suggested list of available places, sorted by different types of cuisine. Unfortunately, almost all the suggested restaurants closed at 8 p.m.! We couldn't believe it! By the time we traveled to one of the places & ordered food, we knew there wouldn't be any time to eat it (I'm an extremely slow eater). As for the type of cuisine we were wanting, Greek food was one of our choices, but we perused all the other places that had the types of food we thought we might like as well. The only place open that fit our cuisine preferences (type of food & a place we could sit down, order, & eat in) was here at Mikonos Grill.
I'm so glad this was the place we were "forced" to go! The food was excellent! I might take a star off for parking & the GPS leading us to the driveway incorrectly but I won't; it's not their fault parking & GPS sucked! Anyway, back to the food. It's not exactly a "sit down & order from a server" type restaurant. It's more of a "order at the register & choose your own seat & they'll bring you the food" type. NBD. The food was worth it! We both ordered lamb. My husband ordered the lamb shank - fall-off-the-bone yumminess! I ordered the "chicken" souvlaki plate but changed the meat to lamb. You need to choose two sides to go with the plates - my husband chose rice & soup & I chose soup & salad. The soup was something like Lemon Rice Chicken. I expected a tiny cup of soup, but, NO! You get a full-sized bowl & it wasn't a small, chintzy bowl either! The soup was creamy, bright, & delicious. The rice was good (the only thing that didn't "pop," yet, still good). The salad had enough "stuff" in it - there were chunks of fresh tomatoes, not like other places that barely give you any. It also had plenty of feta cheese, another ingredient that a lot of places seem to give sparingly. The romaine lettuce was fresh with no brown leaves or clumps of "heart." The lamb on my plate was as equally yummy as my husband's, however, they were completely different in taste. The lamb wasn't as tender as it was in my husband's, but make no mistake, it was still tender! Overall, I wish I had a bigger stomach to try all their dishes. We don't live in this area, which is a good thing since we'd spend all our money coming here. Please, give it a try! The place itself is nothing to write home about...BUT...
Read moreI was hoping for authentic Greek. I'm afraid I can't say this place is. However, they have nice thick fries. More like traditional fries instead of those skinny things you find everywhere nowadays. I had the Greek fries tho which were drowning in some spice and cheese spread. Greek fries are supposed to be fresh hot with feta and minced garlic with a touch of olive oil. For me this version was overbearing and not as delicious. Falafels were good but the falafel salad was just a generous pile of chopped romaine, a pinch of onion, lots of cucumber & feta, & way too much tomato w/a strangely spicy hummus, & tahini that I had to ask for which seemed just straight out of the jar. (update: the falafels are half thesize they were just 6 months ago. is rather have the traditional size and raise the price). Had i known they use cheap lettuce in the Falafel salad I certainly would have not ordered it for $14. the falafel plate comes with everything rolled in apita for some reason. kind of obvious a "plate" should be all items displayed separately on a plate. I'm giving it 4 Stars because it was a nice find in a place that has too few Greek anything, &the people were nice although it was way too...
Read moreAfter a muddy trail run, about 12 of us met here for dinner and a beer. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed my chicken salad. The salad itself had oil and vinegar; the chicken was in its own sauce. It had a great taste that wasn't overpowering. There was a dipping sauce for the flatbread that tasted especially fresh. My friends were also pleased with their meals. We commented that we wouldn't have picked this place on our own, but we were all pleased with our meals. You order at the counter and take a number with you to the table you select. The atmosphere is a tad institutional, but that goes a long way in keeping it both affordable and easy to clean. I'm a fan of proper sanitation where my food is involved, and this place appeared to be doing as they should. While there weren't many other guests when we arrived, none of us had long waits for dinner. They accommodated us with ease. The beer selection is small, but I was pleased with my Space Dust IPA. The staff was courteous and efficient. I appreciate them making this easy to want to spend my time posting a...
