MPS administration has become ridiculous. Endless counts of things being swept under the rug and not properly addressed, they make our children out to be the bad guy in every situation, even though our children are making the administration aware that they are being attacked, threatened and bullied consistently on an everyday basis. They continue to sweep things under the rug and are leaving our children behind. Students with disabilities and IEP's in place are being treated so poorly and are being forgotten and MPS schools. How was it that all of these schools are saying that they accept children with disabilities but when the children attend these schools, they are being left behind and forgotten or being labeled as Problematic, aggressive. I am the mother of a student with an IEP in place that has not been upheld since we've had that IEP put in place almost 8 years ago, even though we all know that an IEP and it's contents are a legally binding document, what needs to be done per the IEP still isn't. We are threatened left and right with social services, CPS and explosions on a consistent basis. I have been shown nothing but hate towards my child and I am sick of it. The issues are only getting worse and I do not know what my options are at this point. It's gotten so bad with the schools that my child has threatened to do harm to himself Because of the severe situations going on at the school. More and more as time goes on I am fearful of sending my child to school because of everything that's going on and situations that are continuing to not be handled properly. I am at my wits end and am afraid That these schools are miss handling my child so much so that I feel they will be the reason for him going down the wrong path. I have done nothing but be my child's advocate and have had everyone in the schools go against me, continue to threaten me And mistreat my child. I am beyond frustrated with everything that's been going on. I know for sure that I am not the only parent that feels this way, and I just wish that something could be done but, with the schools administrations, knowing that they are more powerful than one person and their child, they will bully you into submission, continue to sweep everything under the rug, leaving serious situations, unaddressed, and paint you out to be a terrible person. This type of stuff should not...
Read moreIf i could give this school district negative stars I would!!! What an absolute and utterly garbage of a school district! No answers their " extended learning " extension for summer school. Miss Nataira Crawford, the summer school coordinator never answers her phone at central office. Mrs. Armstrong , the person in charge at Hamilton HS summer school never answers her phone either. So basically you, As a parent have no one to call with questions. This has led to pulling one of my children out of the school district amd sending him to private school. My daughter had gone virtual amd im still deciding on my other daughter. Ronald Raegan HS could not care less about a students mental health well being amd makes it impossible to comfortably send your children there if they are having mental health issues. Stay away! They are 100% a bureaucracy of politics and paper pushing, not focusing on the well being and the facilitation of education of your child. They make it so hard on the parents with their asinine requirements that if your child needs ammental health well being day off school that you have to get doctors note for each time they take a mental health day. They know FULL well that doctors won't give you a note since the conditions are not superficially treatable. Horrible...
Read moreA lot of the inner city schools have gotten bad, but it goes both ways. I've witnessed the bad behavior of children of all ages, and I've seen first hand teachers and staff major frustrations. After awhile, staff attend for a paycheck to support their families , and the parents send their children off to get out of their hair. I had my youngest child enrolled at Elm Street School of The Arts, and it was a beautiful school, children smiling, they would put on shows, then three years later, the halls smell of marijuana from parents smoking while driving children to school, their kids cursing out teachers, parents not getting involved in their children's school work or activities, parents disrespectful to staff in front of their kids, so after awhile, the staff are tired. They want to educate, but how can u when ur getting cursed out by a 3rd grader or hit by teen for asking them to begin lessons. It goes both ways. Silver Spring school and Parkview are the best mps schools, they care and the children and parents...
