I needed to exchange a pot my granddaughter selected for me and that pot was perfect in every way, but it was 12" when I wanted a 10" pot. It was a heavy, iron (?) pot with a glass lid. I am an old lady (88) and I have a great deal of trouble walking. I can walk about 10' and then stop and rest. So, I decided to make a quick trip to TJ Maxx , bring the pot, get a store credit and have my granddaughter get another pot later. It's hard for me to walk the distance in the stores to shop. I got up to the register, resting on the rolling basket, pot inside. I didn't have the receipt, but I had the card of the sale. The girl at the counter said that's all I needed and I'd get a store credit. I said, fine. She called the manager to ok the transaction and the manager wanted to see my ID, driver's license. I don't carry a purse as it's heavy, so I had no DL. The manager refused to honor the card. Meanwhile, I'm leaning on the cart all this time, back hurting, waiting. I told her, "My DL is in the car, a long way from here; I can't walk that far to get the DL and back again. Can I take this cart to rest on?' She said, "NO!" I told her the card was here, just give me a store credit. She said, "NO! That's not our policy." I said, "I can't carry the pot back to the car as I've been standing a long time and the pot is too heavy to carry and you won't give me a store credit. I've got to go sit down. Just keep the pot." I left. I am dismayed at the "policy" that puts idiocy before...
Read moreI used to love TJ Maxx…shop here all the time. I had to make a return and sent my husband to the store. He had the wrong receipt and they said they couldn’t look it up on his card so to save time he just went with the store credit (knowing I’d obviously be back to shop more). I indeed went back to use the credit and upon checking out was told I couldn’t use it because my husband had to be there with his ID (what??) so I even offered to show a copy of my marriage certificate but they said there is absolutely NO deterring from the policy. It was literally less than $20 and having worked in retail for years I know there is ALWAYS wiggle room for customer service. So rude and so sketch. Never had a store refuse to take store credit before and while I can understand why some of these rules are in place, I could clearly prove that I hadn’t just bought this store credit on Craig’s list or been given it by someone (though TBH if you want to give someone your store credit, you should be able to). BIG THUMBS DOWN. Beware if you expect you may have to return something and are not a perfect human always capable of keeping every...
Read moreThis store is the worst TJ's I've ever been to. The staff is slow and lazy. They allow merchandise to sit on carts for hours, sometimes days. The shelves are bare most of the time because of this. They have full carts of merchandise on the floor but you cannot shop from these carts. The morning staff is rude and unwilling to help at all if you are waiting for something off of one of the carts. I've gone in and waited hours for them to unbox a cart with something on it I wanted and they purposely opened all boxes around it first because they knew I was waiting. I've been in other stores where items come out unboxed on the carts and you're able to grab and go. It makes zero sense to have merchandise on your floor that PAYING CUSTOMERS cannot purchase. And if you try and take something because you're tired of waiting you'll get told that you can't have it and that they will "get to it when they get to it." I understand being short staffed but there is no excuse for this store to work harder rather than smarter. Highly disappointed because this is the closest store to me and it's a waste of my time...
