La-Z-Boy Portland — Local services in Milwaukie

We can’t say enough wonderful things about the La-Z-Boy team in Clackamas, Oregon. Prior to deciding that this store offered what we were searching for, my husband and I extensively comparison shopped. We reside in a log home and wished to completely re-do our combined living room/office. However, its unique build presented multiple design considerations. While we were interested in appearance, it was equally crucial that we (and our dog) be comfortable in our own home. We were aiming towards a classic “lodge” look that honored the log construction, and away from fleeting trends that date quickly. We also did not want anything formal, fussy, or kitschy.

After an in-store visit with Mary S. (sales), we scheduled an in-home appointment. Mary and Emily W. (interior designer) drove well over an hour to our rural residence. They listened closely to our concerns, preferences, and ideas; brought multiple area rug and upholstery swatches, and took careful measurements. It was clear that both immediately grasped our concept.

Several days later my husband and I returned to the Clackamas store where Emily and Mary presented a very professional plan. Emily creatively solved all of the design issues (including lack of storage) that I had struggled with. There was no charge for any of this. To say Emily and Mary hit it out of the ballpark is an understatement. We are thrilled!

They provided regular updates while the custom La-Z-Boy upholstered furnishings were being constructed. Everything was delivered well ahead of schedule, and without any factory defects or quality issues. Furniture dimensions and scale are perfect – another testament to Emily’s meticulous measurements, market and inventory knowledge, and design talents.

Emily and Mary felt like collaborators and friends who were interested only in our happiness and the success of our project. Both were very respectful of our budget and never made us feel uncomfortable, pressured, or obligated. They seemed just as excited as we were, start to finish, about how wonderfully everything came together.

Prior to this experience we assumed that all La-Z-Boy offered were recliners. We were wrong – they offer a surprisingly broad range of furnishings and décor. Edit of original review; July 2021 we purchased $5000 worth of living room furniture and we purchased the complete Guardian Protection Plan for all pieces. My wife keeps the recliner covered with a nice, quilted cover over the body and arms, only take it off when we have company. Recently took cover off and there was hole abut 1" long on one arm close to the back. It's just the two of retired folks. I submitted a claim and was just denied as they don't cover "normal wear & tear". However, they will cover damages like (a) if were to stumble in a drunken state with knife and stab the chair, or (b) I was painting the living room and I dropped a bucket of paint on it. Buyer beware.

Original Review; We just ordered the finest and most comfortable furniture we've ever experienced. Shaley was an absolute joy to work with. She happily checked on options, colors, availability, and answered all our questions. And she offered excellent advice and suggestions. Haley was very knowledgeable about the products and provided upfront and honest information about lead times. She gave us printouts of the items we were interested in with hand written notes detailing pricing and delivery times for us to take home to think about. After sitting in the car in the parking lot and talking about it for a few minutes, Barb and I went back in and ordered the sofa, recliner, and coffee/end table set. Can't wait for delivery!!!!!!! This stuff is great. And literally everything we sat in was very comfortable. The choices were difficult. Highly recommended.  Thanks again Shaley. Prompt and professional. I made a call to the La-Z-Boy store on 82nd to find some furniture for my mother's assisted living apartment. The manager I spoke with listened carefully as we discussed what her needs were and he immediately made arrangements for me to visit the very next day. Upon arriving I was greeted warmly and began to browse while the person who would assist me was notified of my arrival. Within less than a minute I was introduced to Meg who was ready with notes in hand from my phone conversation the day before. She was great to work with, familiar with the inventory and even knew how to swiftly track items down which were not on the showroom floor. It very much like having a personal assistant in the way she shared thoughts as we discussed, coordinated and matched the furnishings my mother needed. Not a single moment of my time was neglected and every question was met with a clear and concise answer, many times with an example to look at or try for a fit. No doubt that I will buy future pieces from this store again. Meg built not only a good sales relationship with me, but she and the other staff members enstilled trust, reassurance and friendship into the encounter. Meg didn't sell me anything, but rather she allowed me to buy as I needed while she smoothly streamed information and answers in a manner which freed me from the typical pitching I have experienced in so many other stores.
