I would not book with Abbey Hexum if you can avoid it. I have gone to Cocoon Salon for years and seen several stylists there. I usually book my next appointment when I get my hair cut so I don’t forget. This past time I had to book with a different stylist since my normal stylist (Bri Knowles) was booked. So I booked with Abbey. BIG MISTAKE. For one I received no appointment reminder and other than than the fact that I marked it on my personal calendar I had no record of my appointment with Abby. When I showed up at my scheduled appointment I assumed it was with Bri and got my hair cut. THEN I saw the double charge on my credit card. I called every hair salon within 2 miles of my house wondering if I had booked at a different place. Eventually I figured out what had happened gave Abby and call and email to explain. The primary cause being I never received appointment reminders. Anyway, despite my valid reason for not making my appointment (with her) she was very rude and unwilling to grant me any grace in this situation. Bottom line her system doesn’t work to inform her clients when they have appointments and I’m out $95 because of it, not to mention she did not return my call to even hear me out. Her email responses came off as rude and she was completely unwilling to refund me. I understand the no-show policy but the fact that her system never informed me is the true miscommunication here. Christopher is great! I’ve been seeing him since last summer and he’s nailed the look every. single. time. I’m naturally maybe a medium brunette and he gets my hair to the most perfect ginger/copper color without any bleach. I even asked for a dark cherry cola color in the winter (inspired by dua lipa) and it looked amaaazing. Usually we do one solid color, but during my last visit with him here at cocoon, I wanted to add some dimension without bleach and he lightened several strands all around my head to this really pretty golden/strawberry blonde to look like highlights and I’m thrilled! He charges the most reasonable prices I’ve seen for someone with his skillset. Better yet, he’s personable and eager to help and listen to your ideas. Besides color, he gave me a really nice haircut too, and the layers he added really stand out with the lightened pieces! I recently had my hair cut at cocoon, and I can honestly say it was the best haircut I've ever had. I worked with Emily Angelo, and she was wonderful! I showed her a few pictures of the style I was aiming for and described my usual hair routine. She listened to me and didn't fill my hair up with a ton of products or break out the straightener and curling iron. She styled my hair just as I wanted, it looked amazing, and I have been easily able to recreate it over the last couple weeks since I got my hair cut. I will definitely be back to work with Emily in the future!
