Update again: gross. Totally filthy. Wads of hair, toilet paper, trash, etc all over the women’s locker room. There’s some weird, sticky white film all over the counter by the lockers. They clearly don’t ever clean anything at all. Locks on the stall doors are broken so people can just barge in on you using the toilet. Most of the paper towel dispensers are empty. I’m forced to use this location because it’s the closest one to me but if there was anything else around, I’d go there. This place is nasty.
Update: now that they’ve been open a while, it’s not very well maintained, honestly. The outer thigh machine is still usually broken (why is there only one?) And this location is simply too small for the area. Roseville is basically a warehouse while this one is like a closet in comparison; it doesn’t make sense considering the higher population here, idk. The moulding on the locker room walls is coming off, the mirror in the free weights area has huge cracks in it, and the spray bottles of sanitizer are missing pieces so they don’t spray in a mist but sort of gush everywhere. They have way too much cardio equipment that doesn’t get used as much and not enough strength equipment. Honestly, why 10 ellipticals and 30 treadmills but ONE hip abductor machine? It’s still better than some other locations but not perfect.
They only have one outer thigh machine that’s usually broken, many of the clean-up stations are out of paper towels and/or cleaning spray all at once. They’re surprisingly clean, despite that somehow. It’s also a really small gym compared to many others I’ve been to so it can get cramped easily. It can be tough to get the chance to use the equipment you want sometimes. But they’re a newer location so their massage chairs are in better shape than Roseville and Minnetonka and the staff is all...
Read moreI don’t often write reviews, least of all for chain establishments. But I really wanted to give this PF location a shout out! I’ve just started getting into fitness and brought a friend along with me to give me a few pointers.
The moment we walked in, it felt like we’d belonged to that gym for years, and were warmly greeted by employees that felt like old friends. We checked in (I still needed my member photo taken because the PF I usually go to is so lax that you barely get a nod when you enter, if anyone is even at the desk) and were handled by the nicest people. A bunch of other gym-goers were socializing like RIGHT in front of the front desk so it was a confusing crowd and I didn’t know what was happening/who was or wasn’t waiting. A woman was standing off to the side so I didn’t realize she was still being helped, but she was super kind about my accidental interruption. Once we checked in, the guy helping us fist-bumped us with some hype parting words - can’t remember what exactly, just a genuinely warm, “enjoy your workout, you got this!” encouragement kind of thing. Same thing when we left, along the lines of, “You’re killin’ it! See ya soon, have a great night!”
To reiterate, I’m new to the whole fitness thing. Loving it, but man, it’s those little things from people sincerely cheering you on that makes a world of difference and keeps the motivation going. I wish I didn’t live way out in the suburbs, I’d be here everyday! But this will definitely be my location of choice whenever my friend and I work out together! 10/10,...
Read moreI’ve been met a member of the Minneapolis Planet Fitness club for several years. Generally, I’ve always given them fairly good reviews, but I have to say that it is extremely disappointing to hear that they can no longer play a sports channel on their TVs. Many of the patrons are sports enthusiasts who enjoy watching sporting events or sports news like myself. After all sports and fitness do go hand in hand. The policy defies logic. It’s not what their patrons want. When I asked staff if anyone has ever complained that they had ESPN on (one channel of 11) they said no they haven’t had Any complaints. We live in a very divisive world, which is unfortunate, but we have heard over and over that events like the Olympics and other sporting events bring people together and I believe that is true. Planet fitness’s policy is shortsighted and very disappointing and lacks common sense. It’s another corporation that is making decisions based on their personal beliefs and disregarding what their customers think or want and...
