Best jewelry buying experience of our lives! Never will I shop elsewhere! My partner and I decided to embark on making a custom design ring together. We were nervous and had low expectations. We were guided through the process of building and creating a truly original and special piece that we can treasure forever. We were able to use family diamonds, test out design pieces and even see a wax mold prior to the finished product. Gentle suggestions were made, never did we feel pushed or out of control of designing our special piece. The most amazing part was the absolutely reasonable price. It didn't cost us a fortune! We are not from the area of which the store is located, if you get my drift. My partner didn't have sticker shock at the end and we were kept informed of our price selections along the way. The quality is superior, the experience was unforgettable and it was overall truly a special experience that most people aren't lucky enough to get. My fiancé and I had a terrific experience with Van Guilders from start to finish. We looked at numerous jewelers in the Twin Cities and determined that Lisa from Van Guilders was the best to work with. We needed a custom engagement ring, and Lisa was patient, sympathetic, and helpful in sharing her experience and knowledge. We felt valued as individuals, and communication was excellent throughout the process.

If you need custom work, we highly recommend them. They did not charge for a CAD mock-up, and the entire process, from drafting the idea on a piece of paper to ordering in the unique stones, to the CAD mockup, and finally to the finished product, only took three weeks!

I took a ring there to be resized. When I went to pick it up, I immediately noticed it had a different sapphire. I asked “what happened to my sapphire? That’s not my sapphire!” Their response was “Oh”. When I pressed further and demanded an answer, they admitted to “losing” it. But could not tell me how it got lost. They said, “It must’ve been when we were cleaning it.” They apparently don’t know how they lost it, which concerns me even more!

I believe this is theft by swindle. Stay away from this store! I’m still trying to get a proper replacement sapphire from them two months later! Dishonest, not reputable, and they also did $300 worth of damage to my gold band! I no longer have a...
