You need to pick very carefully and never take the farm stand workers recommendation. Twice in 3 weeks we have shopped here. Today I purchased a canteloupe, black diamond melon, zucchini and corn. I asked for a less ripe melon but the worker insisted I take a misshapen melon despite my request. She insisted the melon was not overripe and would be fine for our dinner. It was smelled up the fridge with a rotted fruit smell as it chilled for 2 hours. When I cut it just now, it is truly gross. Mealy and much too soft to eat. The melon turns to sand in your mouth. Inedible. I am very concerned about the watermelon we hope to eat tomorrow and the corn which is roasting right now.
On our previous purchase we got strawberries which liquefied on the way home. Literally.
