I am a new member of AF and I also go to the one in Prosperity. There was a young lady in there working out name Ashley, she was very helpful on my techniques even helped me structure my workout split a little better. We began to talk further and she advised she was the PT at Minthill, I knew she looked familiar her picture was posted as soon as you entered. I told her I would love for her to train me for 6 month as I was looking to tone and just gain my overall strength back! She called me literally the next day to set up time and day for a fit consultation and something with the body scan as I was thrilled to see what that was about. she was very informative and open about her skills and things she trained. Today I get a disturbing call that she would no longer be a the mint hill location! This is very disturbing, I was looking forward to working with her as she was so welcoming and so friendly ! she serviced with a smile the entire time and SHE WAS PATIENT with me! after hearing that awful news, I will not be returning to the mint hill location though it is nicer and more up to date, I will travel the extra 20 mins to be at a more...
Read moreThis used to be a good gym but the new owner has ruined it. I left a negative review on Yelp today and in less than an hour the new Executive Director, Marco, called me on my cell phone and harassed me about it. He talked over me, argued with me, and kept saying "that's your opinion". Yeah, that's what I thought a review was, the reviewers opinion. He told me if that's how I feel I should cancel my contract and a little later sent me an email that my contract had been cancelled.
So, here are the main changes they have made for the worse.
We used to be able to pick up a workout towel at the door and drop it in a laundry basket. No more. Bring your own or sweat on the equipment. They disconnected the TV's on the elliptical machines. Used to be able to watch whatever I wanted with captions or headphones. No more. You can bring your own music to listen to but they will have theirs playing and force you to turn the volume up higher than is comfortable. They removed sun screens from the top of the windows. Now in the evening, the sun shines right in your face if you are on the...
Read moreHad a membership for several months, but didn't use it enough to justify the expense. I went in to cancel my membership and found out there was a $300 penalty for ending the contract early. Apparently what I signed up for wasn't what I thought, and it was a one year contract instead of a monthly membership. Well, the new owners and managers of the facility where there, and after some back and forth, agreed to waive the cancellation fee as none of us were comfortable about the way that it had been sold. They didn't have to do that, but they did the right thing and refunded the fee. I greatly appreciate it, and I'm happy that the new owners decided to do the right thing rather than the easy thing. Great ownership starts with honesty and that's a really good sign. Wish these folks all the success in the world.
Gym is great too - not too big, not too crowded, and conveniently located in Mint Hill near the Food Lion. Also looks like they're doing some major upgrades and improving the...
