Taking into consideration that I am currently 16 years old, have had years of experience working out with weights, and have worked out at several other gyms that not only allow me to workout, but encourage it. The Sandestin fitness club employee rudely told me that I was “too young” to workout at the club. This made me feel unwelcome and discouraged me as a young adult from working out on my vacation to Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort. I challenge the fitness club employees to be nicer when talking to young adults about exercising and I also challenge the manager to rethink the age to workout at this gym. My family and I believe that not only me, but everyone who is trying to workout from age 15-17, is responsible and mature enough to exercise. The Sandestin Fitness club should also encourage young adults to workout instead of turning them in a direction of an unhealthy lifestyle. If this rule can not be changed to go along with most rules at gyms across the country where your visitors are members, maybe you could train the managers on customer service. A simple, “I am sorry, our current rules do not allow you to work out alone, but let me give you some options on how you can work out in our facility.” I guess I will spend the next two years driving off property to work on my health...
Read moreThe facility is very large and they have lots of equipment for just about any workout you would want to do. They have a cardio room with ellipticals, treadmills, and Stairmasters. They also have a a yoga room with lots of floor space and a tall ceiling if you like to jump rope. The staff are all very friendly and helpful and I enjoyed talking to them. They offer different packages for guests that did not book through the resort (it's free if you do book your stay through the resort). The one we got was a 14 visit pass that cost $85. Multiple people can use the pass at once, it will just use that number of visits off of the pass. For example, 3 people can go at once and use the same pass but it will use 3 of the remaining visits...
