Nuclear Comics has been my shop for over a decade. I bought my first Pokemon cards there. I bought my first skateboard there. I currently buy my comics there.
Customer Service: Everyone that works at Nuclear Comics is super knowledgeable about comics and skate stuff. Anything you need, they'll know how to hook you up. Also, they are totally willing and enthusiastic to just talk comics or super hero movies, which is a huge plus. I have a pull list with them and only come in about once a month to pick up my comics, but they don't mind sitting on the comics for a couple weeks for me.
Selection: Because it's a smaller shop, sometimes issues sell out really fast, so be swift. However, if you set up a pull list, they'll pull your favorite comics and hold them for you to come pick up later (and give you a discount for being a loyal customer!). If there is any specific upcoming series or issue you are interested in, just let them know and they'll put an order in for you. Their back issue selection is pretty extensive as well. I'm always surprised by what I find. They also frequently have a dozen rarities for very fair prices, so no need to buy from some random guy on the internet.
I have been living in LA for 4 years now, and I still take time to drive down to Orange County to visit Nuclear and pick up my stack. I think that that in itself goes to show what an awesome place it is. I couldn't imagine going anywhere else.

Read moreWent to this store with 10 comics and wanted to get them appraised. I was told, “These are 90’s comics and they are worthless. We would give them away for free.” Keep in mind some of them were from the 1930’s. When I questioned him and showed him the minimum value $25 Max value $2000 and average value worth $500 online he suddenly changed his answer to, “Well I guess this one is worth something.” He clearly thought we were idiots who would hand over the comics. Long story, short, our “worthless” comics were valued over $900! I can’t stand when people try to take advantage of others. Super shady guy looking to rip off people who don’t appear to know better.
In response to your response, I know there is a retail value to comics. My issue was more about how you treated us as customers. As you stated in your response, you treat your customers as though they are ignorant and for some reason you feel the need to belittle. I'm simply saying in a world where people have endless options they should take their business elsewhere. Unless of course they love "A Few Good Men" references slung at them...you know that other worthless thing...
Read moreTried three times to go to this place, total waste of time.
First visit: I called on a Monday to ask what time they closed. The guy said 7 PM. I got there around 6:25–6:30, and everything was already closed.
Second visit: I showed up again, and he wasn’t even there. He could’ve just mentioned his schedule when I called the first time, especially since I said I had comics to sell. He’s the only one at the store who buys them, so that info would’ve helped.
Third visit: The guy was a total jerk. He kept asking how much I wanted for the comics, and I said, “Whatever’s fair.” He wouldn’t give me a straight answer and just kept pressuring me to throw out a number. When I finally tried to talk, he cut me off and said, “They’re not worth that.” Okay, then just tell me what you would pay, and I’ll decide. But nope. At the end, he goes, “I’ll give you five bucks.”
Don’t bother coming here to sell your comics. I’m glad I didn’t bring in the full boxes I had in the car. Complete...
