I wish I could give zero stars. DO NOT GO HERE.
The team here totally tried taking advantage of me. I was having issues with my 2006 Land Rover, which I had recently purchased from a private owner. As the new owner, I didn’t have a ton of knowledge on what the issue may have been. The British Performance team took this as an opportunity to try to make a killing off of me.
I was told that after an hour of diagnostics there was NO WAY to narrow down the issues and that they would need me to authorize up to SIX MORE HOURS of work just to diagnose the vehicle at $150/hour. I may be new to my Land Rover, but I’m not naive. When I told them I wouldn’t be comfortable with them proceeding with the work, the secretary was very rude and abruptly told me to come get the vehicle. At pickup, Brian couldn’t produce any proof of the diagnostics they had supposedly ran. It was all a scam!
I’m so glad I trusted my gut and went to British 4x4 Luxury Auto Repair locally instead. WOW - what a stark contrast in service! The guys at 4x4 not only provide amazing service, but are ETHICAL AND TRUSTWORTHY business owners.
At British 4x4 Luxury Auto Repair, my Land Rover was diagnosed in less than two hours (at no cost to diagnose) and the work was completed same day. Duke was super transparent about the alternator issue and gave me very reasonable pricing on OEM parts. When I went to pick up my vehicle, not only did the vehicle run perfectly, but he went above and beyond by giving my vehicle a full detail and fixing an issue I was having with my electronic key (without me even asking). Also I wanted to mention he offered me a loaner vehicle for the day while my Rover was in the shop. I truly felt like Duke and his team treated me like family, and I couldn’t have asked for better service!

Read moreI would like to thank everyone at British Performance for making a stressful situation more comforting. I reside in San Diego and have a 2012 Jaguar XFR which presented with symptoms of a time malfunction (timing chain tensioner). I initially took the vehicle to the Jaguar dealership which had the vehicle for two weeks, only to tell me that they will need $1000 to investigate the issue. Not approving of this service, my vehicle was then towed to a local independent shop where they keep the vehicle for another two weeks and still had a large fee for diagnosis. The problem was that this independent shop didn’t give me the confidence about tearing into my engine and then having “runaway” repair costs. I ultimately called British Performance for a 3rd opinion and spoke with David for not once but on five occasions to discuss what the probable issues that could exist. My car was then towed from San Diego to Mission Viejo to be put in the hands of Miguel. Miguel has been so communicative about each step of the inspection and repair process. He made me feel very confident in his repairs and went to extra lengths to ensure that the job was done with precision. Read moreI bought my used Jaguar XJ a month ago, and it had at least three error codes show up immediately. My mind was racing thinking I somehow bought a lemon. Jeff sat in my car and ran some diagnostics for ~30 minutes and charged me nothing. He suggested to do some cheap things first, reset my codes, and then take it from there. I’m happy to say the issue was minor and the codes are now gone.
They also did my oil/filter change quickly and reasonably. I asked him to check my brakes as they were a little squeaky and not perfectly smooth. He said they still had plenty of life on them and that he wouldn’t recommend their replacement.
I really like that they were not trying to upsell me on every little thing to make a buck. They are not alarmists that try to get you to replace everything every year or two. They really try to provide value to their customers. This makes me feel more confident in my choice to use them as my repair shop.
