Yes this place is really small but totally worth going and supporting monetarily (if you can) so they can grow. My boys were all over the place but the scavenger hunt was fun and allowed them to have a memento with pictures to keep. My 9 & 5 year old are super excited about bugs right now. They worked together to get their scavenger hunt completed and I had fun watching them have fun. My 3 year old was not as excited but he enjoyed the puzzles and bug toys because he kept going back to them. We all held the stick bugs and that was amazing! I was not brave enough to hold the other bugs, but the kids loved it! My daughter and I loved the butterflies. I have never seen butterflies with clear wings before. They are so beautiful!! My daughter and I have been to the walk through butterfly exhibit at the Smithsonian in Washington DC, although she was too young to remember. I'm glad you do not have a walk through butterfly area yet (only because of my 3 year old lol), but can't wait until you do. I loved the humor used in the signs and that you named all the bugs which makes it much more personal. The history behind some of the exhibits were fascinating too. Thank you for having this place available for...
Read moreWe loved this place so much! They had a really unique display that was pretty cozy, but it worked just fine! The only reason I didn’t give them a 5 star is because of the experience we had with Andie, one of the live collections assistants. We had two toddlers with us that were very eager to see the bug collection at the table they have set up and both toddlers each an adult with them holding their hand and guiding them. All the other staff members were so positive and encouraging while they educated guests of all ages. Unfortunately, Andie was not that way. She kept harshly telling our kiddos what not to do (when they weren’t- ex. Climbing on the table) and having little to no positive interactions with two eager learners. This being a fun learning destination for all ages, I just want it to be more positive for others in the future and hope she changes that a little to help make this experience exciting for kids and not scare them. Bugs can already be a little scary and she discouraged our kiddos from wanting to see them anymore until we moved onto the next person with the bugs. Just hope this can be a learning opportunity and changes for...
Read moreWhether you live here or are passing through this is a must see! The Butterfly House is such a special and incredible place to visit. When you first go in it is a room full of cool insects to see, you are even able to touch and hold a few of them that they have on a table on the left. Then there is the butterfly room and wow! I could spend hours there. It is warm and humid, so I would leave jackets in car or in the lockers at the front when checking in. There are so many beautiful butterflies and little button quails too, who are just the cutest. Such a fun experience for...
