The only reason I'm giving one star is because you have to. Dr. Richey was as efficient as a normal optometrist would be. The doctor was not where I encountered the problem, but the issue is with his operations. I am 100% positive he is aware. I was charged $105 for an contact eye. A REGULAR contact exam people. Please be aware when dealing with this office. The setting is beautiful but the same optometry trickery is every present. NEVER NEVER have I paid such a ridiculous amount for a eye exam in my 41 years. I was going to order my glasses from the office until the tech told me that they only had one of the discounted brands available that VSP insurance offered. The most ridiculous lie I have ever heard, being that I was a literate person. I review a couple of the brands before I got out of my car but I couldn't remember exactly what they were. I did remember that it was more than one common name brand. I also told the tech I did not want my eyes to be dilated. I knew I didn't need dilation and it was pointless to pay for this at my age and health history. They did it anyway in the form of a retinal scan and my $10 copay was told to me as a $40 copay. Without the detail that you paying for a retinal scan by choice and out of pocket. If I choose to pay for something that's one thing but to hide a fee that was suppose to be optional is just some good ole fashion BAIT and SWITCH. I would be mindful about the fees with this office and a basic observation of the surroundings should have SCREAMED at me. There we 4 techs and one doctor, somebodies has to pay for all of the extravagance. It will be you if you choose to patronize this doctors...
Read moreI was diagnosed with nearsightedness at the age of 7 and have visited countless eye doctors over the years. I had the Visian ICL procedure done a few years ago (2011) prior to meeting Dr. Richey. Because I had 20/20 after the procedure, I skipped out on going to the eye doctor for a number of years. When I started noticing changes in my vision again, I decided to switch eye doctors and pay Dr. Richey a visit.
I've had some great eye doctors, but Dr. Richey is simply the best. His continued investment in the latest medical technology makes the experience quick, easy, and best of all, pain free. No more drops. No more dilated eyes! Plus, with these precision instruments, he can help with not only keeping your eyes healthy, but also providing early detection that other doctor's may not have the advantage of diagnosing. I'm keen on doctors who keep up with the rapid changes in medical science.
He, along with his staff, provide quality care and go above and beyond to make sure everything is taken care of. I wish I had found them sooner! I also really like how their office makes a valiant effort to get you in to see the doctor AT your appointment time. Delays happen. That's understandable, but it's nice to see the doctor and the staff taking it upon themselves to set a higher level of customer care (unlike other medical offices) and doing whatever it takes to get you in and out in a timely manner.
I highly recommend Advanced Family Eye Care to everyone and will continue to visit...
Read moreI went to Advanced Family Care to get a prescription for my glass and contact lenses. Before the screening exams started, the assistant casually told me my out-of -pocket would be $50 copay for the glass and an additional $120 for contact lenses. I asked why $50 when it's always been $10 copay with my insurance at other optometrists. She then told me they would give me additional exam using their hi-tech machine to detect any potential eye issues. I asked whether that exam is optional since I don't need that every year. She reluctantly responded "Yes" and I opted out, though I would prefer they had told me upfront about the optional exam. Later during the eye exam Dr. Richey fit me with Air Optix bifocal (the brand I have been using for the past year). I told him I still couldn't read that clearly with the bifocal contact lenses and whether it's possible to use regular contact lenses and wear a reading glass. I asked to be fit with Acuve since that's my regular non bifocal contact brand. To my astonishment, he snapped at me, saying: "Would you make up your mind quickly about which brand/type you want so you are not wasting my time?" I thought that was absolutely rude and was dumbfounded. Dr. Richey then rushed my through the fitting of Acuve brand and sent me off. The office is very nice and their service professional, but I don't think Dr. Richey really cares about his customer. You would be better off going to Target to get your eye exams and prescription....
