Visited deserted Rouse's for snack around 9:30p, enjoyed them at outside tables, decent July night. Pitstop proved clean enough. Maybe two other places open, couple of restaurants in shopping center. Sidewalks could use powerwashing. Dull plain back of buildings at perimeter need murals. Center is main part of offerings for neighborhood, one of the few "intact communities" in the city where you could meet most of your needs within walking distance. Grocer, hardware, 5 & dime "general store" (rarity), salons, bank, bakery and others here. 2 block radius includes smoothie/snack shop, florists, 2 drug stores, library, churches, gas station, college, coffee shop, clothiers, senior center, Pilates, yoga, dentists, doctors, another bakery, another restaurant, novelty shops, other professional services...and, about 3-4 blocks away you have swim club, ballet studio. Further around is a community youth theater, baseball field, fine arts museum w/outdoor sculpture in largest park in city w/trails, playground, discgolf, tennis courts, amphitheatre, the Playhouse, police precinct and recycling drop...more accessible to pedestrians if the village/city would extend sidewalk on south side of Museum Drive. Within a mile, could access 4 schools from nursery school-college between them with even more sidewalks. Now to get everyone out of their cars when they don't have to be for such...
Read moreAll of the shops in this shopping center are great. Rouses is a good neighborhood grocery store. Al’s is like a general store of olden days. The folks in the UPS store are sooo helpful. Hertha’s has helped with with 2 separate wardrobe emergencies in the last six months. Crumbl is delightful. Five Gold worth their weight in…well.
I gave the shopping center only three stars because of the entry way and parking lot on the southeast corner. Yes, I understand there is still construction. I see no effort to create a safe footpath from the Old Shell sidewalk into the shopping center. The new configuration of the driveway from Old Shell is just an accident waiting to happen. Just this morning I saw a pick up go over the curb and take out his suspension trying to turn without hitting the other car.
I do appreciate the new trees.
I wonder about the ramps from parking lot into the stores.
Sometimes I just go right on past this shopping store to a grocery another mile or two down the road because I can’t stand the parking lot.
I’d rather shop here than not.
I just think there’s a better way to configure that entryway. I bet you can figure it out,...
Read moreI was in town from out of state and needed a haircut. I called them and made an appointment and they could not have been any nicer of people working in the salon. The Stylist who did my hair did exactly what I asked her and what I wanted for my hair she did a great job and I would absolutely go back and see her again! Her name is Lauren and she is a stylist at esthetica. I would highly recommend this Salon to anyone who lives in the area or anyone from out of town just...
