Carpe Diem has been a staple of the Springhill community since the nineties. Set in a quaint little victorian home, roast all their own coffee beans themselves and offer 3 drip brew flavors daily. You can also get cappucino, espresso, lattes etc from the menu and if you don't see what you want they are always accommodating if you have a special request. Besides coffee, they also offer specialty teas, frozen drinks, gourmet Frios fruit bars and Old Dutch ice cream by the dish, cone or sundaes. The cafe bakes their own pies, cakes, cookies, muffins and cinnamon rolls. The cinnamon rolls are moist, tender, flavorful and are dripping with icing! The best I have ever had anywhere! They also serve up breakfast all day (bagels or croissants with fresh egg, cheese and meat of your choice and they always have fresh fruit cups.) Lunch offerings include quiches, chicken or tuna salad and turkey or club sandwiches. This place has great food available from 6 am to 10pm and the staff is very welcoming and goes the extra mile. Don't forget to try the Glorious Morning muffin! Gingerbread meets carrot cake flavor in a muffin! WONDERFUL! Also, the Highlander Grogg is an amazing coffee flavor! Hard to describe but a little like Irish Cream if it had a butterscotch note to it. Normally served fresh in the fall and winter months but if they don't have it fresh brewed they always have it by the...
Read moreI come here every time I come into town. I have been coming here since I was 17 years old or 16 I can't remember exactly. I was one of the original porch rats as we were called as we hung out on the porch smoking cigarettes and drinking massive amounts of caffeine; playing guitar and singing.
I will tell you that my favorite drink as a teenager was the mocha latte. I was surprised when I got to California after I joined the Navy, to be told that there is no such thing as a mocha latte, one can either have a mocha or a latte but never the twain shall meet. After traveling to several countries and many states in the United States, I have found that this Cafe is the only one in my world that serves a mocha latte on its menu. They are delicious.
As a teenager my company made the signs for this building and they're still there. I was friends and family friends with the original owners Van and his wife.
I was delighted to see that this facility survived the Pandemic's worst effects. In talking to the staff I learned that they maintained some of the same crew throughout the shutdown.
Lots of beautiful young people from the local colleges come here as well as older retired individuals who congregate in the sofas and discuss current events and their families.

Read moreDrove through from out of town and saw that they were open on a Sunday night. That was a plus! Very charming place. However, despite all the good reviews, we were very disappointed. We let the people in line move ahead of us and told the lady at the counter that we needed a quick minute to order because we had never been before. The menu was extensive--lots of great looking drinks. But instead of helping us she just pointed at the signs and walked away. I told her I couldn't have dairy and she told me my options were straight brewed coffee (not soy milk, almond milk, hot tea, etc...LOTS of options without dairy.) She was not friendly at all, and actually seemed a little bothered by us. When our drinks were ready, the barista simply put them on the counter. Didn't let us know they were ready or anything. Simply placed them down and walked away. Both our drinks were WAY too hot and the coffee was weak. We were hoping maybe the coffee was good enough to overlook the staff (I like to give not-so-friendly service second chances just because you just don't know if someone has just had a bad day, especially when they have a lot of good reviews). But it wasn't. We visit Mobile very often and it would have to take a lot of convincing for us to go back. Very...
