First Impressions — Local services in Modesto

The other day me and my parents went to this shop, we went in and we were greeted. Soon after I was going to try on the third dress, and I told him “I don’t know which dress looks better, I kinda like this one but I don’t know which one to try on” he did t give me an opinion and just chose on for me. I didn’t say anything because I didn’t want to be a Karen, he put it on and while I was looking at myself, not even 2 minutes he came and took or the crown and put the chrome back, came back and started to take the dress off and then hen I was about to ask him if I could try another dress on he said “oh no sorry my assistant isn’t here and it’s been a very busy day” okay that was fine I understood. A few days later we went back again and he made up the fake assistant again and he wouldn’t want me to try a third dress in and was very disrespectful. A few red flags I got from he was I looked like his little sister most of you may not think anything of it but to me it was a red flag. Another red flag was about him touching me and it made me very uncomfortable but I didn’t want to be rude and say anything. I had a wonderful experience shopping here and working with Mohamed. I had spent weeks trying to find an evening gown that would be suitable for the international pageant that I am competing in, and I just couldn't find anything on OfferUp or in prom-type stores that really fit the bill of being dazzling and glam yet sophisticated and elegant. Then I walked into First Impressions. Immediately, I knew I was in the right place because the gowns were over-the-top, but in the best way (not tacky!!). I walked around, very nervous about how much it was going to cost me and Mohamed approached and asked to help me. I let him know I had a budget, and he told me to pick out anything that I liked, and he would do my best to match my budget to it. Lo and behold, the first dress I pulled, it fit perfectly, didn't need alterations, was in pristine condition, high quality and I fell in love. He indeed matched my budget exactly and I walked out so relieved that I finally found a dress that I and my pageant directors all approved of! Everyone who has seen the dress has loved it, and I would highly recommend First Impressions to anyone else looking to make a statement but with a reasonable budget. I drove from San Jose to Modesto with little hope.

The moment I walked in, I knew I was in the right place. The gentleman that works there is the owner, and I have nothing but great things to say about him. He does have a young lady who works as his assistant, and she too is amazing!

I tried on about 6 dresses and still explained my vision was not in any dresses I tried on. She gracefully went back out and brought what she thought I had expressed I wanted. She was right.

Staff is Helpful, friendly and kind.

I went back a second time and hit the jackpot again. The second time, the straps were a bit too long. The gentleman explained he was NOT a professional tailor but could attempt to tailor it for me in-house, free of charge.

He did an amazing job on the spot within 10 minutes!

I will drive the 2 hours anyday, but honestly, I would much prefer he open a store in my area!!

Lastly, and some of you might not like this, but at the register, they do have a NO RETURN policy. Most establishments that sell gowns in my experience, have the same policy. I have ZERO complaints about my experience!!
