I was happy when Rasputin originally opened at the Dale Road location, but feared the worst when the store was full of boxes of merchandise being packed up. Thankfully it was because they were moving into this ENORMOUS location nearby. My first time entering the store, I’m not embarrassed to say I cried tears of joy. With how many music stores are shutting down everywhere, I assumed Modesto would never again have a music store with a large selection, but not only did we get one, but we got a HUGE one!! I had grown accustomed to only having a dozen or less opportunities a year to be able to actually browse a store and hunt for elusive records only on the rare occasions when I was either in the Bay Area or in Southern California, was nearby a shop, and also had the time to be able to do so. Since most often I’d be in the area specifically for work, and a store could be within walking distance, time rarely was available. I might have the opportunity to actually go inside a store once for every 15 times I drove right passed it. Hence why I had such an emotional moment when I entered this location for the first time and realized just how big it really was and that It didn’t require a two hour+ drive to get there. Probably 15 minutes if traffic is moderate. While I have far more frequent opportunities to be in a real music store, each visit is still no less special. It’s still sacred ground to me and I savor every trip. The only negative with having more opportunities is having less time to save between visits and it’s common that I have to put back a couple MUST OWN finds that I simply don’t have enough to afford and just hope it will still be there when I do get enough. Not what I expected. I was excited to join my friend in selling his records cause I always wanted to check this place out. We both came away disappointed. Him because they only offered a couple bucks for boxes of awesome records. And I cause the clothing selection was poor at best. I thought I would see some name brand, or vintage rare hard to find clothing. But instead mostly rock band t shirts, ranging in price from $20-$32 on Gildan brand t-shirts which are always itchy and uncomfortable. The selection of clothing was worn out stuff most of it unwearable. The jean selection was not well organized and I only found 1 pair i was interested in and no tag on them which means they don't sell it....period. The other half of the store was all Dvds, CDs, Vhs tapes, records, cassette tapes, and the like. There's some jewelry racks by registers but just junk stuff. They also have a large selection of books and various reading materials. No public restroom. Open Thursday-Monday and closed on Tuesday and Wednesday. Way better selection and quality at the Goodwill. Their buyers are uneducated fashionless that buy worthless dorky clothes. No style knowledge and I bet they will not last long with employees that have nonexistent customer...

Only place to buy vintage vinyl and CD’s out here and my daughter likes to go, otherwise I’d go elsewhere. Their thrift side is super overpriced. Also, I asked them if they would buy children’s clothes and they said yes. I came back with a box full of girl’s clothes and women’s clothes, they bought maybe 5 things including one pair of jeans w the tags still on and they offered $6 and rejected everything else. I was now told they don’t buy kid’s clothes which is odd because they sell them. I had quite a few shein items that were brand new and I was told they were “too cheap” by the super unhappy employee. I guess selling Walmart brand overpriced super worn and damaged clothes w stains and holes is ok, but brand new shein is where we draw the line. I also had other brand new items in there that I guess were also too cheap. Don’t waste your time packing everything up and bringing it to them. Plato’s closet also buys clothing and they don’t have a nasty attitude about it. Also, for CD’s and vinyl, you’re better off shopping on eBay as the vinyl here is overpriced and the selection...
