Spencer's — Local services in Modesto

Yesterday we placed an online order for a shirt to pick up in-store. Today when we called ahead, we were told that the item would be ready in a 2-3 hours and that they were just finishing packaging the item. About 4 hours later, I arrived to pick up the shirt. I was told they did not have the shirt as it was in transit. I was confused and explained we called and were told that they had the item. The person immediately got defensive and started speaking a patronizing manner telling me that he was slammed as the only person working and that he had sold the shirt to someone else.

As someone who works in retail and has been in a similar situation, I tend to sympathize with the workers; however, his tone was extremely rude and I’m wondering why he sold a shirt that we had already paid for yesterday. I understand being overwhelmed and frustrated, but I was only trying to pick up a shirt that we had shady paid for and even called ahead and were told it was in store and...

Haven’t been here in years but I ordered some lava lamps and was packaged very good. Arrived on time and was packaged carefully with bubble wrap. With that said ,

I do agree with others that the “adult toy/stuff section has to go. I’m not sure if it brings in “huge revenue” or, “pays their rent bill” with that section, but highly doubt people go to an actual “mall” to buy “actual adult toys” lol. Also, with that said.

I took my teenage kid here and warned about “other stuff” that’s inside , (since I wasn’t sure where the “other stuff” was) and sure enough, I saw a wall full of them so we decided to walk back out.

The adult stuff should be held in a back corner, behind a “glittery shiny reflective banner” to walk through so people can “see a sign that says adults only and walk thru a nice entrance” …. Ya know, kinda like they did back at the “video stores”…. You know… you…....

The satanic memorabilia was widespread and as a devout Christian I was very uncomfortable and put off considerably. This is not the Spencer's I grew up with this is not the place that I have enjoyed for many years I found it disgusting and terrible and it should be burnt to the ground. I hope all those who work there can find the right path and not surround themselves...
