Iād like to start by saying that the end product, my hair coloring, was beautiful, there are no complaints there. That seemed to get lost with communication.
Iāve been going to this salon for just over a year and seeing the same stylist. She has always done great work. My totals WITH TIP have ranged between $208-$275 for my services.
There was no client in between when I would normally process so my stylist had a gap of time that was spent on my hair. I thought nothing of it, thinking she had extra time so she was just taking her time? The appointment ended up being over 3 hours long (which is an extremely long time and unexpected).
When it was time to checkout, my total, for just the service was $274ish. This did not include tip. With tip, it was well over $300! This is the week before Christmas and that was NOT in my budget.
My biggest frustration is that the cost of the plan for coloring was not discussed with me. I wasnāt given the option to say that $275 worth of services were not in my budget and can we do something differently. I had been going there long enough that my stylist knew that I was traveling for the holidays and work in a school, a $300+ is what I was stuck with.
I did message my stylist my surprise of cost in which she offered to remove the toner and her tip. I am not a grinch, I wouldnāt take her tip. As I mentioned, Iām not upset with the end result, I am upset that a consultation on the price never happened. I tried to explain that; she responded that I could see another stylist that has a lower rate. The point has been missed again and I was insulted. If I had been talked to about the price, we could have discussed options that fit my budget. Iāll happily pay for what is consulted on. She then told me that my services should have been doubled what she had charged⦠um. Again, there was no discussion on the cost and no one in their right mind would pay $550 for the service.
So word of caution: make sure you have a consultation and a general idea of cost before being taken for a ride! Iāll be seeking a salon that guarantees communication...

This salon owner āJillā better call me back today or Iām sorry but Iām gonna first blast them on social media especially for ignoring a customer who has a very good reason for being upset, then Iām gonna show up and we really gonna talk! Itās called take responsibility, hold yourself accountable and do the right thing!
What I asked and paid for and what I got. This is after the 2nd time of them ātryingā to fix what they did wrong. Charged me $110 for their mistake in the first place. So Iām out $320 total. This is with me tipping both stylists even though they were not able to come remotely close to the picture. I respect that itās not always possible to get exactly what you want but this is not even close. I am usually understanding but now Iām not because I spent so much money, time, donāt like my hair and now Iām getting ignored.
UPDATE: She hung up on me after I explained how unhappy I was about everything. I was upset and did curse and raise my voice to her but she did not and was not going to actually listen to my side of the story. She said that her staff did everything right. Ok. Very clear to me that this is not the case. She was anything but kind and empathetic to my situation. She thinks they did nothing wrong and that what I paid was fair even though āherā employee made the mistake in the first place. I have shared my thoughts with many people and they would agree that they are in the wrong and are shocked I even paid anything after the first mistake. Most said they would have walked out. Honestly I would not do that but almost wish I would have. Own up to your mistakes and think about how you would feel after leaving once again unhappy with the results. Maybe think about your customers. I have not gotten my hair done for over a year. I usually donāt spend the money because I donāt have it. But was very excited to get my hair done and now itās more of a nightmare. I went to CosmoProf tonight and I will be trying to fix it myself. This is very disappointing but...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe discussed the plan of action for my hair but in the end, the lady did what she wanted. I only had a couple conditions, please don't make me look older than I am, cover my grays, and I want it to be low maintenance. Everything started with her doing all over color and for some reason she used "semi-permanent" I was unaware of this until it was already in my hair (and I did payed full priced for it though!). Then she was supposed to do a money piece and a halo of blond at the bottom of my hair. I was excited to see it but when I did, I noticed a full head of baby lights, a chunk of big blond on my side, and nothing at the bottom. I did ask her about that and she acknowledged she made a mistake and was willing to fix it adding more foils and blond at the bottom. I went home to think about it but I just didn't like my hair at all and I was not confident she was going to do it well this time, so I called and asked for her to do the same "all over color" she did before to my hair instead. She talked to her manager and even though this was cheaper than doing foils (I asked) she told me that I needed to pay for it, and when I asked how that made sense, and more information about the foils, she told me, well I was only going to do 5 more foils (?!?!), like that was going to fix my hair? I am happy I didn't take the "solution" but now I feel like I paid a lot for my hair, I look older and don't even like it. The photo is from when I got home after my appointment with my hair styled. As soon as I washed it, it looked so bad, now I have to style it which is not low...
