I wanted to take the time to write about how impressed and appreciative I am with the care my mom receives from the Yahara clinic.
All the front line staff are always kind and helpful. As the coordiator of my mom's care, I sometimes call once a week asking for assistance making appointments or confirming appointments. This group is always incredibly helpful and patient. Her physician, Mathew Swedlund took the time to visit my mom while she was in the nursing home! I know he is busy, but you would never suspect he was busy given the great amount of time he spends making certain my mom’s complex needs are met. Kaitlyn Kelly, NP was my mom’s care provider while she was recovering at Belmont. Kaitlyn met with my mom regularly and managed her complex needs with confidence, a high level of commitment and tremendous care.
The icing on the cake was the lab technician by the name of Elizabeth who my mom met with on Friday April, 21st around 1:20. My mom’s wheelchair transportation arrived late to her appointment. The driver said he could not wait more than 10 minutes. If he would have left, we would have waited a very long time for a return ride. So the driver’s late arrival, left Elizabeth with no more than 8 minutes to do a very tough blood draw on my mom, who was quite nervous, as she had many unsuccessful attempts to draw blood in the nursing home. When Elizabeth brought my mom back for her blood draw, I informed her my mom’s ride could only wait about 5 to 8 minutes, and my mom was a tough stick! Elizabeth handled the stress put on her so well. She was unflappable and confident and so, so kind. With persistence and care, Elizabeth drew her blood on the first try. Remarkable! My mom was able to get her wheelchair ride home.
I love the Yahara clinic and have always been so pleased with the compassion and care given to my mom at all levels of service, but this Friday appointment went so very well, it made me realize I should write a formal thank you to all those who care for my beloved...
Read moreOverall, Yahara is a great Clinic to receive treatment. It is small ao there is not a lot of patient and staff traffic. It is conveniently and closely located to my home, which is very beneficial and most of the staff are kind and great to work with. However, there are the occasional few people (doctors, other medical staff and even one or so receptionists) that are difficult to communicate with often due to lack of active listening which can alienate patients and make us feel unimportant and not cared for. These behaviors and instances are only true of very few staff members. The majority of the staff are very accommodating, kind and always willing to so their best to treat every patient equally and with respect.
One other issue I really have is that I have already lost two primary care physicians who have moved on to other clinic jobs and one of them was without very much warning, and due to my personal issues with anxiety and ptsd "abandonment" can be very upsetting to deal with. I am an understanding of those physicians who had to leave and because I enjoy the convenience of the close traveling proximity of the clinic as well as interacting with other friendly coworkers I will always try to make the best of every situation as long as I am receiving the...
Read moreI would give this negative stars if I could. I called on a Tuesday to find out if I could get checked for the flu. Terrible coughing, body ached all over, felt like I broke a rib. Did not receive a call back until TWO DAYS LATER. Went to an urgent care, 4 hr wait. Went to another urgent care, 1.5 hr wait and diagnosed with influenza. Was prescribed tamiflu and cough syrup. Now its 9:30 at nite. Went to the recommended pharmacy and they were out if tamiflu. Went to a second pharmacy to pick it up. 45 min drive home and finally taking meds when I had started to seek care at 8 am in the morning. there was only enough cough syrup for 24 hrs and I was not taking it in daytime to allow for productive coughing. This is for an illness expected to last 7-14 days and rest is the best medicine. When I finally got a callback from THIS clinic TWO DAYS LATER they promised to call in a cough syrup prescription. That was at 2pm. 5pm doors closed and nothing was called in. Another nite of staying up all nite breaking my ribs coughing. These clinics need to be staffed better and have better protocols for helping sick people in times like this. I know staff is trying to do the best they can, but come on Executives-wise up and bring in more staff to get people well. Terrible...
